My dad told me about these devices, so I ordered a couple of them with plans to cut the cable this summer after the contract is up. This provides a great way to record OTA channels for program viewing at a later date. Its size is small and very nice. Scanning channels is very easy. And now that I figured out how to set up timers, it's very simple. The instructions really don't go into a lot of detail about that. That would be my only concern at this point. I am so ready for my satellite contract to expire!!!!
Bought a couple weeks ago. It was easy to install & I had it recording in fifteen minutes. Picture looks better then before adding the device. Great buy for the price. Hope to enjoy for years
I have been delightfully surprised by the overall performance of this unit. Starting with the smart design of internalizing the power supply (considering the units overall diminutive size) vs yet another 'wall wart' that fights for unavailable space on the power strip, component video output typically only available on high end devices as well as HDMI and placing the USB port on the FRONT of the unit vs the back, the unit also pulled in stations from an unamplified antenna that the premium brand TV connected to it can't manage to get. Nice compact remote as well as easy to read AMBER display, vs trendy eye burning blue. Programming stations for recording is a snap and best of all, the recorded files appear to play without issues on the computer; I have been able to catch up on shows while traveling. Using approx 800Mb per hour long program with high resolution playback , any larger USB stick or SSD drive can be connected for multiple days worth of programming. Lastly, nice to see minimal packaging and NO styrofoam. Only negatives are focused on the supplied documentation which is a bit lean and does not go into anything about many of the other features of the unit as scheduling recordings and EPG. Hoping that it has a above average life expectancy.
