The only challenge I had in setting this up was oil. There were warnings everywhere that the generator comes without oil. I made a special trip to get some prior to a windstorm so I could test it out. Well... it came with oil in it. Started up without issue, ran most of my home with ease, and was nice and quiet. I was running on propane.
We bought this for concession business as it’s able to power one trailer from the 50 amp plug and the second (just a lemonade trailer) unit and with a big enough fuel tank that makes it much less work than before. Previously we used 2 smaller generators but that’s smaller tanks so more refueling, more maintenance, more to transport… now just once and done. And still like it’s pretty quiet for the power it’s putting out.
Just opening the owners manual for the first time I had never seen such a user friendly owners manual. If this is a sign of the level of support it can’t be better. I also noted the Facebook group tied to duromax products and linked on their web page. A solid owners group makes ownership much easier
Own the standard 10000w dual fuel generator and has been great. Was waiting for sale for the Inverter series. Very happy with purchase. Runs great and has clean pure voltage. Frequency stays stable with loads.
This is a great option if you are looking for a high power inverter-type portable generator, especially for dual-fuel. It has a 50A outlet ready for home backup at the power panel, with power to spare for a few additional devices that can be plugged in directly to the generator. A few years ago, in the aftermath of a hurricane, gasoline was difficult to obtain for several days, so being able to alternatively hook up to our propane tank is critical. This generator can save your bacon... and allow you to cook your bacon... when the #$@ hits the fan!
When I unboxed this generator, I was very surprised with the quality of the build. As an electrician I deal with generators a good amount and I was expecting this generator to be bigger and heavier, so I was pleased to see it was lighter and smaller than I was expecting. It's also one of the nicest and quality built portable generators I've dealt with so far.
The set-up was very easy. I was originally annoyed with where the oil fill spot is because it's not the easiest, but the funnel provided made it easy. It would be nice if there was something on the generator to hold the funnel while filling because the viscosity of the oil is pretty thick so it takes a little while to fill. Nothing major, I'll rig something up during oil changes, but just a thought.
The reason for the 4 star rating and not 5 is the the LED display. The display is great, don't get me wrong, it's clear and provides great info, but I definitely have some dead diodes in the screen. Luckily, it doesn't affect any of the info and maybe they are designed to not be functional, but it's obvious some of the screen isn't the same as the rest. Unfortunately I didn't take pictures but can update soon when I get back to running it.
Overall, it's a great machine and would recommend it to any homeowner looking for a portable backup.
Bought our unit back in January had a few minor issues that was resolved by them sending out the parts quickly and I replaced. But then unit went out altogether the warranty guys quickly go the unit in to see what the issue was and sent a new unit to replace the bad one. Current unit working great with no issues. We use our generator almost everyday on our food truck. They have been very reliable and company has been great to work with
