We have experienced several electrical blackouts every year for the past several years, so we decided to obtain a backup generator and chose DuroMax X11000IH after research. We are wholeheartedly pleased with this DuroMax X11000IH inverter generator. Easy to read step by step User Manual facilitated preoperational necessities like enabling battery, filling with recommended oil and tethering the quick connect propane hose prior to initial start. The Socket Wrench tool included with the generator is nicely designed and very useful to remove/replace the battery and oil compartment the access panel. Accessing the oil Dipstick Cap is a bit awkward especially if you have big hands. The included funnel with flexible hose though greatly facilitates adding required oil before operation. The generator quickly started via push and release Start button. And it is quiet! A muffled sound not even close to noise – true even under load. The digital Control Center brightly informs you of Hours, Voltage, Load and Frequency in use. This is key for us who may have to alternate using A/C and water heater when reaching Peak Running watts. An electrician will install an interlock kit on our breaker box and a 50 amp extension plug-in box on the house next week so cannot comment on the generator under Peak Load...yet. We are fully optimistic the generator will do as it is designed.
I only gave it 4 stars because I've only had it long enough to put 4 1/2 hours of breakin time on it. My only gripe, is the cover for the battery-oil fill. If the opening was 3" higher, it would make it so much easier to fill and check the oil, and put quarter turn fasteners on it, instead of bolts. Otherwise, starts right up, relatively quiet, esp. compared to the open frame generators. I really like the LED info center.
Just picked up my XP11000IH. so far so good set up instructions were very easy to understand i already have about 6 hours on the break in period. going to get another couple of hours, drain the oil and refill in prep for a central Florida hurricane season.
I bought this model because of the previous reviews about how quiet it is. And it is!. A lot of thought was put into the design. Easy oil changes, easy to move around due to it being mostly square, and the main weight of the motor is over the wheels. It's more than enough power for us to survive a grid out situation. This is the perfect mid ground inverter between the 7000ih (which I just bought as well) and the 16000ih. Nothing but good things to say about this 1000ih! Love it!
I bought this last year before hurricane season. I also bought a 120 gallon propane tank with wheels on it which I highly recommend. It worked very well when I used it once and the best part was electric start, and how quiet it was. While it does provide a slightly less power using propane, it was negligible and when done, I dont have to worry about clearing gas from the carb for storage. I did have some damage to the handle when delivered but the company took care of it no problem.
Just finished my 8 hour break in and will change oil next. Cranks on the first try. I need to disconnect the neutral and then its ready to hook up to home through my Generac manual transfer panel. Ready for GA hurricane season.
So far everything is as advertised and has exceeded my expectations. I had an electrician install the 50 amp inverter and was able to power the whole house excluding any 220 V circuits drawing only .3 kW. Should be able to power the portable AC with ease. On one hand, I’m glad we have it as we live in a hurricane prone area, but on the other hand, I hope I never get to use it.
