This is a review of ownership of only 3 days just after the break-in period. I will only be using this gen for power outage emergencies, so long term use such as construction usage will not be a factor. The crankcase holds roughly 40 ounces of oil. I used a measure cup for 8 ounces, so one full quart plus the 8 ounces was perfect for not over filling and making a total mess of oil running everywhere. Filled the tank with gasoline and it fired right up. I have a 50 amp manual generator transfer box. While in break-in, I was able to turn certain appliances off and on to see exactly how much power each one used, thanks to the built in digital display the generator has. The 11K gen is very quiet compared to my old 5k and the 11K is surprisingly lighter than my 5k. I suppose it has a lot to do with nice handles this one has. The manual said to run 6 to 8 hours during the break-in period and keep load below 50%. I split the difference and ran just over 7 hours. I ordered the oil they sell online, Lucas 30W Break-in Oil and Lucas Synthetic 10W30. This gen performed very well. It was able to power my electric hot water heater, about 4500 watts, just fine. However, it did not want to power my Geo-Thermo HVAC on heat setting. I chose this 11k model hoping that it would run it, but it wouldn't. My HVAC is roughly 3-Ton unit equivalent. I am sad because of that, but it is not the fault of Duromax, nor the generator itself. I would need a larger gen to run my HVAC. With that said, it is very important to know exactly how much power any and all of your appliances/devices use before you settle on generator size. My problem was that the company that installed my HVAC went out of business and no one else wanted to help me find that info for my HVAC, so I had to guess and hope this gen would work. However, I have no regret buying this gen and it will serve my needs far greater than my old 5k gen. The 11k seems very well built and a lot of well thought out details went into the final design. Yes I am very satisfied with my purchase and I recommend it to anyone.
I purchased this generator after having trouble with a preditor (Harbor Freight). Not only does this have more power. It is also quieter than the preditors. Very Happy and highly recommend the duromax.
My DuroMax 11,000 Watt Inverter hasn't missed a beat. Always starts and always produces the power that I need. Running ethanol free gasoline in it. I am very happy with this unit. A great buy!
I bought the 11000/9500 inverter in spring. Installed a Generac 50 amp manual transfer box and 6/3 cord. It runs a 3.5 ton AC easily so I am good. My water heaters and heat are natural gas. It runs great. The only problem I had was I had old instructions on how to unbond the neutral. A call to DM was no help so I went back to the self help stuff and I found updated instructions. Easy DIY. My neutral is now floating and safe to hook up to my home.
Bought this generator for my cape home in New England. Powers the boiler, well pump, radon reduction systems and everything with no problems. Installed my own interlock kit and now power outages are a total non-issue.
Just got the XP11000iH dual fuel inverter and fired it up. No real surprises and the build quality seems good. Duromax has crammed a lot into this package. Getting to the oil filler cap is not the easiest as it’s behind a thick wiring harness.
The unit fired up quickly (both electric and pull start). I am surprised at the noise level. The specs claim 64db but my readings about 15’ away still showed 78db. It’s still far quieter than open frame generators of similar capacity. I was hoping I could just use this with a GenTent to keep water off, but I’m going to build the generator shed out of consideration to my neighbors.
