This is a great coffee maker. It does require some preparation, as you should clean out the grinder every time ( not totally necessary but there will be a little coffee left behind). It is truly worth it to wake up to freshly ground and brewed coffee. The thermal carafe is a big plus keeps coffee reasonably hot but not burned.
Grinds the beans just before brewing and makes great coffee that stays hot for hours in the thermal carafe. The grinder needs regular cleaning but it is a great coffeemaker and easy to clean and program.
I owned a previous version of this coffee maker. After 15 years, it started leaking so I decided to buy another. The new one functions as well as the original but the quality of the materials it's made from is cheaper. Given the quality, I think it's overpriced.
Works well. But as a “10 cup” coffee maker it must be using a measurement of volume that is far short of what the average person considers a cup of coffee.
The steam from brewing goes up into the grind the chamber and results in caking of the residual coffee grinds. Extensive cleaning is acquired between each use.
I inherited a 650 that finally bit the dust. Was going to get another, but not available. Cuisinart phone rep suggested the 450. Really like it. Easier to clean than the 650 & doesn't get as messy. Dishwasher safe for cleaning.
