I have used cuisinart coffee machines for many, many years.. my 14 cup coffee maker still works great but the calcium and other water stains were unremovable. I wanted a stainless small brewer and this is one is awesome. It feels a bit tinny and very light weight. But it makes great coffee, keeps it hot for 30 minutes….just perfect for my 2 plus cups. I’m washing and drying to prevent the mineral out put of my water. I also only used filtered water to make coffee.
I purchased this 5 copper after breaking another glass carafe. Being the only coffee drinker, I purchased this because of its size and its carafe. I've had it for approximately 2 weeks and am loving its coffee.
I have had this coffee maker for several months and it is by far the <very best>, and easiest to use, that I’ve had in decades. The unusual, space-saving shape caught my eye, as well as the stainless steel carafe. I’ve broken too many glass carafes in my day! The water reservoir is clearly and boldy marked for the cups. It is easily removed by just lifting it up. I usually take it over to the sink to fill it, or use the carafe. The coffee comes out piping hot at about 180 degrees, far hotter than any past coffee makers. I can pull out the carafe before the coffee is done, with the brew/pause feature to pour my first cup without coffee dripping all over the warming platform. The platform still looks like new, too! The coffee is brewed so fast, that not having a clock or programmable feature is no big deal. And to start it, the on/off brightly-lighted switch is sensitive and easy to push with one finger without holding onto the coffeepot to keep it still. It stays on for about 30 minutes only, so there is no smell of stale coffee lingering like other coffeemakers that stay on for two hours after brewing is done. The stainless steel carafe is easy to clean with just a soft sponge and detergent once in a while. Usually, just a rinse-out is needed. I put it in the dishwasher with no worries whatsoever that any part of it will break. The lids of the water carafe and water reservoir are simply designed with no snapping parts to break. I fit brown cone coffee filters inside the 2-part filter that is already provided, just to avoid rinsing out messy coffee grounds. There is a nifty little charoal filter that comes with it, but we have very good water that has no odor or bad taste, so I have not used the charcoal filter - but I might if conditions with our city water ever change. I love this coffee maker, and not just because I am partial to all Cuisinart products!
We had the original version of this coffee maker for a long time. It was getting a bit shabby, but we hesitated to replace it because it was just right for us. We finally did replace it with this new version and it's better than the original. We love the transparent water reservoir and the connection between the cofffee basket and the caraffe.
Generally a good 5 cup coffee maker. I like the removable tank and the stainless steel carafe. The 30 minute shutoff time is too short - should be an hour (or more)
