I'm a professional Chef and I've used every sous vide tool on the market - this is the best one. By far. The app is one of the best I've used and the product itself is built to last, like anything else Breville manufacturers. I've had a Joule at home since the product first became available almost ten years ago, and with the amount of cooking I've been doing any home, it's time for another. If you get one of these, you will definitely not be disappointed.
This is my second sous vide wand. It’s far more slim than my first model which is nice because I have more room in the water bath. The side clip is also fantastic because it’s less bulk for storage.
The reason it lost a star is because you can only control it through the app. If for some reason the app stops working with your device you’re out of luck. Let’s hope they keep this around for awhile.
The need for a separate Turbo version Joule App is disappointing and (I should have guessed) the fact that Turbo does not work with frozen items.
I would give the new unit a qualified recommendation for now, and for sure when the App is "corrected" so that legacy Joule and Turbo Joule share the same app.
I’ve been using Joule for a long time. So when I saw the turbo, I figured, why not. When I got it, I was like ok, this is great. However, now I feel it’s a bit gimmicky. You call it turbo, but the turbo is a measuring stick. If you measure wrong by just a little, your food is undercooked.
The app is pretty poor compared to the original. Hardly any recipes, so I find myself using the old one more. Hopefully, they start putting together more recipes and simpler ones like the older version. Good luck; until then, I’ll stick to the old Joule and put the turbo in a drawer.

I bought this unit 2 weeks ago, and so far it has done nothing but sit in a pot of water and blink at me. I've tried connecting to 2 different phones and been through the troubje shooting list at least twice. When I went to the support section it wouldn't let me sign in with my e mail and password that worked last night and today. It shouldn't require an advanced degree in computer science to cook some food. My original Joule had " issues" but the Turbo has done nothing but tick me off since I got it out of the box. I'm seriously disappointed with it, the juice just isn't worth the squeeze.

I was surprised that I could use the turbo feature for more recipes. Also getting used to only being used with iPhone. That means I can't use it when wifi is either not available or not working. I have loaned my previous circulator friends so that they could either try it or retherm something I sent them home with. I love the smaller size and the magnetic base. I didn't need to purchase the large clip since I can use a magnet under the plastic container I use for larger items. I keep it in a cloth baguette holder so it doesn't get scratched. Might be nice to have a cloth bag to keep it in a drawer.
