Christmas Gift

I purchased the Sideline Elite 50 Recessed Electric Fireplace as a Christmas gift for my wife. I installed it below our TV in our main family room. This was a retrofit so I had to cut away the sheetrock and do some framing for the installation, but I was able to get it completely done in a single Saturday. I included a smart plug so Alexa can turn the fireplace on and off by command. Wow afterwards - we love it!

Experiencing issues

Hello Evan. My name is Kevin Mihelic. I recently purchased a 50” elite from touchstone. I had the unit installed last week. I absolutely love the unit. The options are incomparable to other units. And it looks fantastic. Unfortunately I am experiencing some issues with the unit. I have a Roku stick on my main tv in my living room where the fireplace is installed and when I try to turn the volume up or down on the roku tv the fireplace turns the speed of the flame up and down. Also last night I had the unit set on the highest speed flame for a few hours. No heat on. The unit started making a very strange vibration sound. I turned it off and waited until today. I turned it back on at the same setting I left it. After a while the fireplace started making the same noise as the night before. I changed the flame speed to the lowest effect and the noise went away but as soon as I turned it to f2 or f3 the vibration noise came back. any information regarding these issues would be much appreciated. I currently have not turned it back on due to the issues described above. Thank you. -Kevin mihelic-

We just installed our unit a couple months ago as we were building and was unable to install when we first received it but and it worked fine for the first couple weeks and we were very pleased but now it makes a terrible ticking noise anytime you turn it on and it does it even when the heater is not running.

We love this fireplace. The flames look very real, and the amount of control is exceptional (flame color, ember color, brightness levels, speed). I'm so glad we picked this unit. I look forward to years of use.

Glad I bought this model

I have had this fireplace for a week or so and am finishing the surround to install it. Every night I put it up and then move it in the morning so I can work on the surround. Which is another way of saying it just looks and feels so cool I don't want to miss a night of watching it. This is an elegant and realistic electric fireplace. Pros: It looks pretty darn real on some settings. The flames are soothing and relaxing. While a big fan of real fires, my wife is allergic to the smoke so this turned out to be a great option. Because it turns on with a flick of a switch I will probably use it every day. While everyone knows that there is no smell, soot, smoke, carrying firewood. risk of fire etc. etc. I didn't anticipate how much more often I would use it versus the hassles of a real fire. The options are endless, although many of them aren't my taste, as I like to look as realistic as possible. The color arrays are impressive. Easy install once you have a place made for it. Cons: not really but... the crystals and driftwood are my choice. The logs are just ok. If they pulsated or changed they would be much more realistic. The heater is a bit loud. Not sure this could be improved but I didn't buy it for that reason. I can easily hear it even with the tv on. Overall very pleased with this model. The extra cost over the other model to me was worth it. The bezel is like the difference between an old tv and a newer model. For me the other bezels looked clunky, this looks elegant and modern. Of course there are more options. Is it a real fire? Of course not. Can you tell...it won't pass close scrutiny and make anyone believe its a real fire. it will however feel real. I really like it and expect that you will enjoy it. I will be back with additional comments and some photos once I have it all installed in it's new surround.
