DIY Media/Fireplace Console

I'm so in love with this project! The retail price tag was hefty for the quality I wanted... so I decided to make one myself! I found the perfect used dresser, then researched fireplace options, learning that I needed one designed for in wall installation. After removing the doors and center drawers, I cut out the area needed for the fireplace, then chalk-painted and waxed... et voilà!

Touchstone 36" Electric Fireplace

We installed this fireplace in our vacation condo unit. It is the exact model we installed in our home. It is the right size for our locations and the presentation is very good. Also, the dimensions given in the specifications/installation guide are very accurate. This made it easy to make an enclosure which the fireplace fits into perfectly.

The Sideline 36" Recessed Fireplace

I have just had the fireplace ready for use for a week. I have enjoyed being able to change the colors of the crystals. I use this in a room with a cathedral ceiling and I have been surprised at the amount of heat it produces. I am very pleased. I have not used the faux log at this time.

The Answer To The Problem

The house that I live in Ca. has a fireplace in the family room. We used it for the first few years but the heat went mostly up the chimney. So we stopped using it. 43 years later I found the Sideline 36 Recessed Elect. Fireplace. With a little adjusting it was a perfect fit. Now we have a functioning fireplace that looks as good if not better than the original one. We now have an artificial fire even in the summer. We only use the artificial flame and not the elect. heat but its there if we need it.
