Incredible set

The best set I’ve built in a while. I primarily have Star Wars sets, then the kids have a wide variety. This was by far one of the most enjoyable sets I’ve built. It’s solid, challenging, and not repetitive. Like I said, it’s a solid/strong build. Compared to similar Star Wars sets in the price range, I feel this is so much stronger and a value for the money. The set has so much functionality, from the landing gear/ramp to the moving/folding legs, to the unique cockpit. It had a great set of mini figs too. It’s also neat looking and I plan to do a nice display with the novels. Incredibly impressed, thanks Lego for a great set from this iconic movie!!!

Excellent Set

This is an excellent set. It displays well, and feels sturdy enough that I expect older kids could safely play with it as well.
The landing gear is easily up to the task of keeping it standing when deployed. The gear and the ramp close smoothly and securely with a simple rotating block on the side of the vehicle.
The wings swing in and out with a locking lever, and can flap when extended by pressing the same lever. They wobble, but it's all within their expected range of motion, and there's no sense that it's about to break at any point, nor have I noticed any unexpected sagging to them in their collapsed configuration (there is some sag, but all of the design for the wing motion accounts for it).
I can't help but compare it to the current UCS X-wing, which also features wings that can change positions, but is a significantly inferior mechanism. This set feels like the designers made sure to avoid the mistakes that had been learned from that model.
It comes with a LOT of minifigures, and I like them all myself. Liet Kynes and Duncan Idaho are my favorite of the two, with Duncan really capturing Mamoa's appearance from the film in Lego's whimsical style. Baron Harkonnen's cape is a little bit annoying to get settled, but now that it's sat for a couple weeks, it has settled properly and looks decent. For those expecting a unique minigure with him though, he is a standard figure on a tall transparent stand, and the cape is a really long cloth piece.

This is a fantastic build and really great representation of the Ornithopter from the new Dune movie. The technique elements for the moving parts blew me away. Some of these were a little tricky to get together, but it is all worth it when you finally put the blades on and try out the folding mechanism and the movement. Kudos to the master builders that pulled this one together.
If you're a fan of Dune, definitely buy this set, it's well worth the money.

Between the landing gear and the loooong Baron Harkonnen minifigure, this set was a must have! Had to take it to the Frank Herbert Trail at Dune Peninsula to ride the sand worms :)

[Employee of lego-global] Its my first large set that i built since i was a child so it was a bit complicated at first. Overall the mechanisms and the functions are all amazing and this set is seriously a 10/10.

Overall the build was fun and challenging, and there were no stickers. Two printed tiles were a plus. The only downside is the use of visible color pieces, when looking at the set you can see red, orange, yellow, blue, and even lime green. The minifigs were wonderful, but the Lady Jessica has limited functionality as the bottom half is molded brick into a dress shape.
I would love to see a set for Dune II, even if it is simpler. I would love to see minifigs for Princess Irulan, the Emperor, and Stilgar, and it would be nice to have a nameplate similar to some of the Star Wars display sets.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
