Got our replacement part fast, fit just right. Had my cooler for years. only use it when we travel back home. they have some of our fav items. we load up after our visits and away we go, to last new home. I concur, why make an inferior part for such a Great cooler, KNOWN brand. Just doesn't make sense. Thought that when we bought but, It's IGLOO.

Good quality materials with hinge that will outlast the original plastic units. The only shortfall is that when closing the lid these hinges have no ability to spring slightly open so they will be hammered each time you close it and let go too soon. I was able to glue a small piece of closed cell dense foam inside the hinge and it will work well until the foam someday degrades.

These latches look durable so was excited to install them. Installation was easy but they didn’t fit correctly and when latched they raised the lid just enough to open the cooler a half inch or so.

Is not truly universal. Had to make modifications to make it work. I made it work because is better than the plastic latch. Overpriced for what it is.

The new stainless steel latch was easy to install. The cooler should have been initially made with the hinged latch rather than the cheap plastic latch.
