I have an Igloo cooler with the plastic latch that breaks every two years or so. The metal hinge was advertised as universal fit which is not accurate. I had to open the package to install only to find it doesn't work. I won't bother with a refund. My advice is just keep buying the plastic latch because this one will NOT work.

Latch Replacement

Easy, 5 minute replacement. Used existing screws since they were larger than the ones that were sent, otherwise the holes would have been larger and the new screws would not tighten up the new latch. Also, I did not install the new male piece since the old one worked perfectly. I kept the new piece and screw(s) for a future install if required. This Igloo is 25 years old and this is the first issue that has developed.

very happy to see that igloo had parts that I could purchase, and after my Frenchy chewed on my closed latches on both edges, I didn’t know what I was going to do. I said, let me look on the website, Lord, behold, there it was.

This replacement lock was supposed to be universal. It was too small for the cooler that I have. The larger ones were not available online.

Universal latch not universal

disappointing to learn a latch listed as universal does not fit all igloo coolers. The mounting screws aligned but the latch hole and button do not provide a tight fit leaving a 1/2” air gap Choosing not to spend the shipping cost, I through it away. I request Igloo provide me the less expensive white plastic latch when they are in stock.
