Very quiet, quieter than a car driving by. Manual was easy to follow and so is the trouble shooting section. Thinking of buying a second one to pair with it, which is another super awesome feature :)!

An impressive piece of equipment

Purchased a little over a week ago and over the last couple of afternoons I ran the generator to accumulate the five hours of break in time appying different loads being careful not to exceed a fifty percent load as suggested by Westinghouse. I am currently using gasoline to fuel the generator. The first time I started it I used the pullcord as I was curious to see how easy it would start using the manual labor method. The temp was 35 degrees F and it started up on the second pull. Very smooth running and pretty quite. I like information so I am in love with the data center. One of the readouts available is the amount of run time left with the current load on the generator. If I plug in another device and increase the load the readout will update to show the new run time left with the increased load. I also like that the carburator came with a drain hose attached and a drain screw to faccillitate draining the carb. A thoughtful feature. The owner's manual is well written with lots of drawings, nice.
The battery was door was popped off and the battery out of its tray when I opened the shipping carton. The attachment points where the battery hold down strap attaches to the generator plastic housing is very minimal. It takes very little pressure for the strap to become unattached. As others have mentioned Westinghouse missed the mark when it comes to draining the oil. If they were to enlarge the access door opening just a little on the left side it would go a long way in making the drainplug more easily accessable. All in all an impressive machine loaded with practical features.

Good product but needs some improvements

I bought an iGen5000DFc (why is it also referred to as iGen4500Dfc?) about two weeks ago and all I have done with it so far is ran the break-in period for about seven hours and changed the oil after the initial oil fill.
The unit appeared to have had a hard drop during shipping. Both the upper and lower styrofoam packing was broken and both access panels were popped open. There was a hole in the shipping box and the battery strap is missing. The User Manual is vague and in some cases misleading regarding the operation of the unit. There is a great deal of warning information but operating and maintenance information took reading and rereading and visits to Youtube to figure out. There is very limited information regarding the Data Center but I eventually figured out most of it on my own. My biggest problem was with the small sizes of the two access panels. After skinning up my hands plugging in the battery and searching for the still missing battery strap I went to the oil access panel and used the screw in funnel that was provided for the initial oil fill which worked out good. After the five hour recommended break-in period I wanted to change the oil which I do on all my new engines. This was a problem. The block drain fitting does not line up with the access panel but after some finesse and more skinned knuckles I drained the oil. Putting the fitting back in was another problem but with a combination of wrenches, sockets and duct tape got the job done. I suggest having your engineering designers take a look at this issue as I expect it to be a problem for many unless they have access to some special wrenches and small dexterous hands. Please send out a battery strap! My contact information is with the Product Registration.

Nice Generator

This unit ( iGen5000DFc ) is a sweet little powerhouse for pretty much any 120 volt application. We live in a rural setting with frequent, but usually limited duration power outages, and can't justify the cost of a permanently installed backup generator, so having temporary power just by running a few cords is real peace of mind. Our typical setup includes 2 refrigerators, 1 freezer, coffee maker, furnace, sump pump, a couple of floor fans, WiFi and a/v equipment. Plus a few lamps and power strips. So far it works great. Easy set up, and quiet operation. No regrets.

Bought this unit as a backup with an automatic transfer switch for my grandparents house and even though it hasn't gone through an actual outage yet, it works perfectly when tested. Very quiet

Researched many inverter generators

After all the comparisons with all brands I decided on this one, mainly because of its high ratings and features that others don't offer. I especially wanted the dual fuel feature. After running it today for break in on gas and LP I see why the ratings are so high, believe them when they say this thing is quiet! There's no difference between the gas or LP when it's running. just smooth and quiet. I would buy this brand again if I decide on a bigger one.

I’m so glad I bought this digital inverter generator as a home power back up. I usually use this generator for black outs camping and now it’s very handy to power my solar generator on cloudy days or for other emergency. I highly recommend this generator it’s not too loud for the amount of energy it gives.
