Great for the first 15 hours

I bought this generator for the propane and remote start features. The 4500 watts of power was perfect for my needs. I was also drawn to this generator for the quiet 52 dBa rating. However, after about 15 hours of use, with only a small A/C unit running, the generator started giving me the overload light and the A/C would no longer kick on. The generator began running rough, as if it is misfiring. Oil level is fine, air filter is clean, choke is shutting off after start, and I even changed out the spark plug. Nothing seemed to fix the problem. I'm now questioning my purchase. I really wanted to like this generator, but I worry about the quality. I will be calling for warranty support after I finish with this review.

iGen 4500DF What a bad experience out of the box
on June 29, 2021

I so wanted to love this generator and it has turned out to be such a bad experience right out of the box. I was excited when this generator arrived just in time for our upcoming camping trips. I read the manual from cover to cover to make sure I followed all instructions prior to start-up and to run the suggested break-in procedures.
First issue - As soon as I put fuel in the generator for the first time it came pouring out of the bottom of the generator. Thank goodness I hadn't started it yet, as the fuel screw in the bottom of the carburetor float bowl was missing and fuel what just pouring out. I called the support number and got my first case number. I explained that we had bought the generator for our upcoming weekend camping trip and was emailed the next day that if we need to use the generator to go to the hardware store and buy a 6mm or 8mm screw for the missing carburetor drain screw. Unfortunately, a standard machine screw doesn't stop the gas from entering the drain tube. I have emailed back and forth a few times with videos of each step and they have a new part headed my way. Unfortunately, it is going to be a 10-day delivery. The email responses from the tech team have been timely. At this point, I have still not been able to start the generator.
Second issue - Since I still had to perform the break-in procedure, I decided to run the break-in on propane. As soon as I fire up the generator I notice the display/control center showing power output and total run time was completely dead. I was planning on using it for the break-in load and to monitor the break-in time but it didn't work at all. Now I have a second case number for a dead display/control center.
Third issue - After I run the suggested break-in cycle and went to disconnect the propane and the fitting completely came out of the front of the generator. I didn't even torque the propane hose in at all! I will now have to email the tech team on one of my previous cases to report this issue.
I have now owned the generator for 2 weeks have at least 2 different case numbers and three different manufacturing defects. I have now missed using the generator on both my camping trips. I am beyond disappointed in the IGen 4500DF experience right out of the box.
I have included a couple of pictures of the issues so far. I also have several videos I have taken along the way but can't figure out how to upload them at the moment. I have requested a call back on these issues and hope to get these issues resolved soon.

Worked great until it didn't...

I have a total of 15 hours on my new generator. I ran in for about 7 hours on propane and it worked great! I switched it to gasoline and it ran for about 8 hours. Just as I went to bed, the generator started sputtering and then died. Now it only turns over for 2 second or so. There's plenty of fuel. I've tried starting it approximately 50 times - it's a manual start only with no luck.
I'm now sitting in a dark travel trailer with no power and 33% battery life on my phone - it's supposed to be below 30 tonight. The instruction manual only has basic steps like add more fuel and push the reset button.
I even used 89 octane fuel.
Highly disappointed!

Easy to assemble, easy to use, and runs quiet

Bought this after the last snowstorm knocked out our power for a week. The generator was easy to assemble and get running. Needed to pull the manual recoil start a few times to prime the system on first run, the electronic starter works great after that.
It runs very quietly and could not even hear it running on the other side of the house. It is easy to move around with the handle and wheels.
Filling the oil could be a little easier, the fill plug sits way back in the compartment and by the time you put the funnel in, there is no way to tell when it is full except to pour in a little oil at a time, remove the funnel, and shine a flashlight to see the oil level.

Fuel line burst

The fuel line burst after the first day of use...this was due to an improper size fuel line installed during assembly.

Great generator. Quieter and more powerful.

Exactly what I wanted. Quieter and more powerful than my previous generator. Love the the fact that it works on propane or gas right out of the box. Speaking of the box, it was a little beat up during the shipping but proved to protect everything inside the box.

Great for RVing

I bought this for my travel trailer and love the features of remote start, quiet operation, long run times, collapsible handle, large wheels, and the multi purpose display. Its size is perfect for my F150 and fits under my bed cover so people cant see it. It is a little on the heavy side for one person to lift in and out of the truck but can be done. Easily powers the trailers A/C unit with power to spare for other items. The dual fuel will come in handy if I run out of gas while camping.
The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that if you leave the battery switch on overnight with the generator off, it will drain the battery defeating the use of the remote start in the morning. So at the end of the day, you have to turn that switch off, which will not allow the unit to start until you turn the switch back on.
