I think I got a lemon

Normally I would have left 5 stars because I initially loved this generator. It was so compact, powerful, and easy to crank. And who wouldn’t love that remote control cutoff? However, after owning it for like two weeks, we noticed that if the battery for the remote start ran down, we couldn’t even crank it by hand. Isn’t that the purpose of a generator? To generate power when there is none? Needless to say that’s been frustrating. Then my pull cord snapped in two. It’s January. We got this thing in like November. So I think I got a lemon. But I’m optimistic that this is an unusual case and that it’ll get better.

Problems right out of the box

I unpacked the iGen4500DFc and immediately found the battery box open and the battery strap disconnected, and the battery flopping around the compartment. Paired the key fob but the engine failed to crank. Engine cranks when I use the start button. Contacted customer support and was on hold for an hour only to get a receptionist who took down my complaint. Heard back from a technician a few days later and they said it sounds like a defective key fob. They sent a replacement, I paired it with the generator, and still didn't work. Contacted them again, and by email, they said it's probably the module. They sent me a new module with poor instructions on how to disassemble the case cover to access the module. Finally got the case open and then found that the module didn't match the original. Old module has a 12 pin connector, the new module had a 10 pin connector. Now it'll be days, if not weeks before I get this resolved. I haven't even tried to start this unit yet!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Powers my RV AC no problem

I researched a lot of generators to make sure that it could run my RV AC without issue. I have used the generator a few times with the RV and had no problems - it is nowhere near its max output capacity. I also purchased this to make sure the food in my home refrigerators did not spoil if there was an extended power outage. This unit has some great features not normally found on others, such as the power output, run time meter, and dual fuel. I especially like that I can run the unit with propane since the tanks are easy to transfer and I have a few of them around the house already. The battery start is also a nice touch that makes firing up the generator a breeze.
I would recommend this to a friend!

nice machine

I got this a few weeks ago. it was a little damaged from shipping scuff marks. not Westinghouse's fault. runs great only going to use propane . it idles pretty rough assume its the propane. make sure and break in properly the directions on break in aren't real good.. I ran it an hour and changed the oil.. lots of glittery metal in oil . changed the oil two more times after that every hour. going to run for twenty hours and change again. I ran two fridges and a freezer plus two heaters and some lights and it didn't miss a beat. Really like the Gen

Great features and a great price

I purchased this item 2 months ago now and have gotten to take it camping 3x now ,all my camping neighbors are very impressed how quite the igen4500df is ,we can stand literally right next to the generator and carry on a complete conversion its great as we like to here the quite and natural sounds of the great outdoors vs a motor running the whole time. This generator also poweres up my 2018 forset river travel trailer ac fridge and microwave all at the same time without loseing much power ,I purchased the unit with the propane option as this could come in handy on a long trip ,so far a very happy customer..
I would recommend this to a friend!

Just bought this. I am very pleased and it provides great power and very quiet.
I think this is made very well and looks like great quality. I am using this for our 37 foot travel trailer as a boon docking power source. I am using it to run a 15K AC with no problem. I would of gave this a 5 star review but the electric choke is not working and I need to rectify the issue or return it to a Service center. I will try to reconnect the wires myself first. But customer service was very pleasant to deal with. I would reccommend this to a friend without hesitation.

Exactly what I expected!

This generator works great! I use it with my small RV trailer. It runs everything just fine. It will struggle a little if I run the AC and the microwave at the same time. I run it with propane only. It has never had gasoline in it.
The remote start is a huge bonus. I can start the generator from inside my trailer. With my previous generator, I had to unplug everything before I shut it off and replug after I started. This is definitely a hassle. With my new Westinghouse generator I simply shut it off and start it up. No plugging and unplugging. I do however turn all the the appliances, AC, ect. off before starting and stopping.

Waited a long time for this to come back in stock and so far glad I did. Build quality seems excellent and ran perfect out of the box, very quiet. So far only run on propane, but unless a real emergency pops up that's all I plan to use. runs my entire RV, 15k BTU AC, fridge and microwave, tv all at once. Also planning to use as backup for the house to run a few rooms in case of storm outages which happen fairly often where I live.
I would recommend this to a friend!
