One of my new-year's resolutions was to be more prepared for a major earthquake or other disruption of the electric grid. After much research on-line, I was surprised to find the Westinghouse 3600DF offered at such a reasonable price, and offering all the features (dual fuel, electronic ignition, etc.) I'd sought- and then some, e.g. a remote start. I particularly appreciated the accompanying documentation, which includes exploded parts diagrams and electrical schematics, as well as thorough maintenance instructions.
I bought this smaller generator just to run a space heater and my refrigerator. When my son-in-law set it up he found it wouldn't start even through the battery showed it was fully charged. He quickly found the problem - a wire from the engine to the battery had become disconnected during shipment. Connecting the wire resulted in an easy start once the engine had primed itself. It ran very well though certainly not quietly during our test. I'm just so glad to know pet finches and I can stay warm during any power outages this winter.
This generator increases capabilities by dual fuel feature, remote start, floating ground, and finally, power and endurance times. I plan to install this unit in my new 5th wheel and modify the exhaust output with flex adapters and piping conforming to RVDA/RVIA standards.
I just purchased this generator and have already tested it on all of the emergency situations I could think of. It handles three household items very well.
