So Far So Good

Just arrived and assembled today. After quite a bit of research, it was down to this Westinghouse or a Generac. I live in SW Florida, and I vow to never be without AC again! This seems to be a nice quality, well built 50 amp generator that should more than cover my needs. Not too loud. I'll wire the 30 amp 240 connector to my panel (hint dryer outlet) which should power the fridge and any fans and lighting and internet. Then I will use a 12 gage extension AC cord from one of the duplex outlets to power a window AC unit. I don't expect any problems or surprises. I am one to do the preventative maintenance, so I expect to have peace of mind about not suffering after a storm for years to come. Not having actually to use it yet is the reason for my 4 star rating, but I have no worries.

Bought the WGEN6000 portable generator for backup power for storms. Live in central Florida and have went thru 2 hurricanes with no generator. After considerable research decided on the Westinghouse WGEN6000 for it's features and power that matched up with my transfer switch. Quick delivery, easy setup and started instantly with electric start. Peace of mind for the upcoming hurricane season!

After months of research I decided to settle on the WGen6000. The generator arrived in perfect condition. The small amount of assembly required was easy enough for me and my 7 year old son to handle. Note: you will want two strong bodies to move the box around prior to assembly...it's heavy, but that is good, it's built to last. This is purchased to back up power to our panel during power outages, we will be having an electrician install a transfer switch. The electric start is a nice feature...with the wheels on it's easy enough for my wife to move the generator around, and effortless starting.

Just got the wGen out of the box. I live in South Florida and need it to meet the upcoming hurricane season. It arrived on time. I took it out of the box, instructions were super easy to follow. The wheels and mounting feet were on in minutes. I connected the battery cables and then put the oil in (funnel came with the it) so it was ready to go. I put in unleaded gas, flipped the fuel to ON, the choke to ON and waited for some fuel to load into the carburetor. I pushed the START button and it kick once and then started right up. I have an allpower 3500 that my new machine is replacing and the wGen is running quieter. It is easy to move around with the wheel and handle configuration so I am very satisfied with it. The finish is really nicely designed and the manual that comes with it is easy to read and follow. I highly recommend you go through it, it makes the set up and testing go faster and easier. I am connecting to an outlet outside the house that is wired to an Interlock key so I will be selecting the circuits I need up to 50 amps. I am working with a licensed electrician so that so that the system is ready to deliver when I need it.

WGen6000 Worked flawlessly out of the box.

Easy setup; Large wheels and folding pull bar make this 174 lb generator far easier to move around than my older and lighter 5400 watt non-Westinghouse generator. The electric start cranked the unit immediately and it runs smoothly. Connected the generator to a power pass through via a L14-30 generator cord and everything is working as I had hoped. It isn't a quiet generator but it seems to be no louder than any other comparable unit that I've seen.

Easy to follow assembly. Very good directions. Afer normal prep, the generator started right up. I do find it a bit noisy. I would highly recommend this generator.
