They thought of everything...

As an engineer involved in reliability and product improvement for 37 years, I'm a very tough customer. I'm the guy who is always saying "did these idiots actually ever USE their own product???"
I expected no different when I purchased a Westinghouse WGen6000, sight unseen, from an online retailer. To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement.
Besides the obvious robustness of design, they managed to keep weight and size very reasonable. The cage is welded tubing, which provides high cage stiffness. Installing the tires was simple, and while you would think pneumatic tires are smoother, they tend to be flat when you need a generator most, and Westinghouse compensated by using larger diameter tires which roll very smoothly. The handle swings easily and is placed very well for easy movement. All mechanicals and wiring are neat as a pin. Outlets and controls are clearly labeled. Near the gas fill is a reasonably accurate mechanical gas gauge. Open the gas cap and you'll find that a chain keeps it captive (no more "where did the $#%# gas cap go??? while fumbling in the dark). There is also an inlet gas filter screen cup which is easy to remove and clean. From a design and build viewpoint, I can't criticize anything. The generator exudes quality everywhere you look.
I used the electric start the first time I tried to start it; it fired up within 2 seconds of pressing the switch. The sound level is lower than my previous generators, so that was a nice surprise. The digital display is nice to have.
Do I have any complaints? Yes, but they are very minor. The oil fill plug is a little difficult to reach as the battery wires are in front of it. However, you can rout the wires above it easily. The manual has a couple of minor errors that aren't worth mentioning. Finally, the ground lug on the control panel side had pierced the shipping box; there is very little clearance between it and the side of the box. However, it caused no damage whatsoever.
I highly recommend this generator without reservation.

MORE THAN ENOUGH FEATURES TO JUSTIFY A SLIGHTLY HIGHER PRICE

IT COULD BE 5 STARS BUT I'VE NOT RUN IT MORE THAN A COUPLE OF HOURS. THE GENERATOR PART OF MY 25 YEAR OLD UNIT DIED DURING FLORENCE. I STUDIED SEVERAL OTHER UNITS. UNLIKE UNITS WHICH WERE A FEW DOLLARS CHEAPER THIS UNIT HAS:CAST IRON SLEEVE, 3 YEAR WARRANTY (NOT 90 DAYS), A METER TO MONITOR HOURS RUN, VOLTAGE AND CYCLES PER MINUTE, AND MOST IMPORTANT TO ME A VOLTAGE REGULATOR WHICH IS NEEDED FOR ELECTRONICS SUCH AS THOSE USED IN MOST MODERN APPLIANCES. THE UNIT CRANKED INSTANTLY, RUNS SMOOTH AND IS LESS NOISY THAN MY NEIGHBOR'S UNIT WHICH HAS THE SAME HP ENGINE. THE LARGE WHEELS AND A GREAT HANDLE MAKE IT EASY FOR ME (AGE 74) TO WHEEL AROUND. LASTLY IT COMES WITH A VERY INFORMATIVE USER MANUAL.

Saved my butt in the great outage of 2019

Bought this generator weeks in advance before the great power outage of 2019 here in California. This thing is a champ. Ran two fridges one chest freezer my TVs coffee maker microwave you name it. Had more than enough power. Easy to put together. Starts on first pull. Nothing negative to say. Nice size gas tank. Easily runs for 8+ hours on a full tank.

After months of research I decided to settle on the WGen6000. The generator arrived in perfect condition. The small amount of assembly required was easy enough for me and my 7 year old son to handle. Note: you will want two strong bodies to move the box around prior to assembly...it's heavy, but that is good, it's built to last. This is purchased to back up power to our panel during power outages, we will be having an electrician install a transfer switch. The electric start is a nice feature...with the wheels on it's easy enough for my wife to move the generator around, and effortless starting.

Good generator at reasonable price

I bought this power generator from HomeDepot.com. The item arrived in just over 1 week. I just checked it out yesterday and am pretty happy with it. Initially the battery was low; so, I had to pull start the engine. It was easy to start. After running it for ~10 min, the battery was charged, and I could restart it easily with the start switch. The engine noise is not as loud as I was concerned. This generator was lower priced than some comparable ones I found online, and it has the features that I wanted. It comes with 3-year and lifetime tech support.

had to purchase a new generator and this seemed like the best deal for my needs and with the electric start was a plus for me..assembled easy and started right up ..hooked to my transfer box and everything in the house runs with hardly any draw down that i could see...hope i wont have to use it for a while though..had 3 power outages in feb. but now i dont have to worry about the generator stopping in the mid of the night like my old 15+ year old one was doin..

Easy to install

I bought this a week ago, very easy to set up, 20 minutes from cutting open the box to pushing the start switch. Started within 5 seconds of pushing switch. Features are amazing, very well thought out engineering of this product.
