Outstanding Generator (WGen9500DF)

I got this generator after the big Texas freeze in February 2021. After researching a number of large portable generators, the Westinghouse WGen9500DF was the undisputed winner for a number of reasons. It’s big (i.e., powerful) enough to run my whole house, including my 3.5 ton central AC unit. The power of this generator matches—even exceeds—the power of some standby generators! The dual fuel option is nice. Though it provides a little less power, I intend to use propane simply because, with propane, the gen will still meet my power demand. Propane is the cleaner fuel for the generator and is more environmentally friendly. It's also more conveniently stored than gasoline over an extended period of time. Although I can handle the recoil start, the electric start is a blessing. Plenty of outlets for plugging in power cables—each with its own circuit breaker. I intend to use the 50-amp outlet to feed my main breaker box. I haven’t set the gen up for use yet, but plan to have an electrician do it soon—we’re almost in the middle of hurricane season. I should add one more reason for opting for this generator: It has the name Westinghouse on it. Actually, that sums up all of the above!

Worked great for 30 hrs

I want to love this generator but the motor seized up after roughly 30 hours of use and I have only had the product for 12 months. I changed the oil at the recommended break in period and followed all other guidelines according to the user manual. According to the manufacturer's warranty I have to pay to ship the unit back for repairs! Now that will be expensive and seems like a punishment to the consumer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
