Hurricane Preparedness!

Because of the active 2020 hurricane season, I decided to add a generator to our hurricane preparedness to avoid a potential extended outage like the 2 weeks without power from hurricane Florence in 2016. I installed a 50 amp connector outside my garage which can be selected with a transfer switch inside the garage. This generator has a 50 amp 240 VAC connection which not all generators have (some only have 30 amp plugs which is very limiting) When I connected it to my home, I was able to run major loads like the refrigerator, a freezer, well pump and both of my home geothermal AC cooling systems for 5000 sq ft area plus lighting and other small loads. The unit didn’t seem to bog down or be challenged with the load profile. The unit setup and starting was easy and well documented in the literature. I like the many features built in to the generator and am very pleased with my purchase and feel better prepared for the next hurricane encounter in Wilmington,NC!

Very Nice Generator

Just receive my WGen9500DF generator. Very easy to set up. Very clear instructions. Everything worked right off the bat. Ran a test by running an air compressor. I plan to run my house off this at our next power outage once I have a transfer switch installed. When I was researching this generator I was looking for generators made in the US. Everywhere I checked said they were made in Westinghouse’s Columbus, Ohio facility. But when I went to register it on their website I noticed the words “Made in China” under the serial number on the generator. It’s a great generator but I’m disappointed that it’s made in China. I really wanted to support our US manufacturing workers.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very Nice Unit

I just bought this unit but compared to my old one it is very nice. I love the remote start feature and the push button start/stop. (I only hope the eletronics hold up). The engine is easy to start using the pull cord (and Im glad it has one). I dropped a star because it doesnt have a 12V outlet for charging 12 volt batteries and it is not as quiet as I would have liked. I expected 2019 technology would have cut the noise levels by half from that of my 20 year old generac. However, that doesn't make me wish i had paid way more money for a "red painted" competetor. So far I think this is well worth the cost and I'm glad I bought it

Looks great and works well

Bought this last June and got it earlier than promised and in perfect condition! Had my electric guys hook it up to my house panel with an Interlock ( Permits pulled) to my 2300 sqft home. My AC is 3.5 ton and this pulled it on Gasoline with no problem, even when switched to Propane!! Switched on HVAC Handler and lights in house and 0 problems. Ran a 50amp receptacle through the wall and hooked the 50amp cable to the generator 50amp outlet. Ran this for 1/2 hour on both and am impressed with the electric start (battery included and charged) and remote key fob start!! (Fob came programmed too!) Even comes with a trickle charger for the battery. SW Florida (Port Charlotte) hurricanes and storms come through almost every year so, we are ready! This machines hums along like a quiet lawnmower as well. Told some friends and family members about it :)

Duel fuel & remote start is a plus

The remote start is a good option. as is the duel fuel.
It shipped quickly, however it did get a dent in shipping, it is minor in the cross brace on the handle side.

Starts fine with minor design flaw

Starting with gas is fine. Have not tried with propane. The noise is a bit loud.
Minor design flaw; I cannot plug the 50A cable to 50A outlet because the wheel is on the way. 50A cable is big and cannot be bent away from the wheel. I need to buy the 50A adapter. See photos

The WGen9500DF Totally Rocks!!!

I purchased the WGen9500DF a month ago in preparation for a possible brush with a hurricane. We got lucky once again with no loss of power but will be well prepared for future storms.
The generator came by freight and arrived in an undamaged box ( A rarity for me). Upon opening, I was happy to discover that it was well packed and in perfect condition. The wheels were a pretty simple assembly and in no time was ready to fire up. Not wanting to deal with gas in the tank at this time, I decided to hook it up to my propane tank. A push of the start button and in 3 automatic start tries it turned over. Frequent starts since are firing on the first go around. At 50 feet my decibel meter app registered in at 63db. It is much quieter than I expected. I have since run it on propane with minor power draw for around 5 hours. As of yet it no issues. The remote fob has an incredible distance range. I have started from over 100ft away. One thing I did notice on this generator that I don't recall reading in my search was the auto choke on it. No need to manually set the choke when using the start button or the remote fob(Wife friendly).
I spent a lot of time researching generators before making this purchase. I can honestly say this generator meets all my expectations and then some. The fact that my wife can use this with me not around.... Bonus!
If you are teetering on the fence with this one... take the fall. It won't dissapoint.

Easy set up and start

Came fully assembled except wheels, feet, and oil. Instructions were easy. I ran off propane and it started right up. Love the push button electric start and key fob start. Also more quit than expected. Feels very solid. Much better quality than the ones I have borrowed in the past.
