Westinghouse has thought of everything. It’s the most complete equipment package that I have ever purchased. They have made great effort regarding their instructions. Very easy to assemble. I highly recommend the Westinghouse 9500DF generator.

Most powerful model in store

We just moved from Phoenix, Arizona to a lake in the middle of the southern Indiana forest, and I'm very happy to have purchased a powerful backup generator in case ice storms cause the electricity to go out for an extended period of time.

excellent backup design

Dual fuel generators such as this one are the only way to go for home backup power. For intermittent and unpredictable needs, gasoline is a poor choice. Too often long intervals occur and gasoline (even non-ethanol) can gum up the carburetor. I prefer to have propane only for short operations. If I run short of propane, I will switch to gasoline to carry me over until I can refill my propane tanks. Once I refill the propane tanks I will drain out the gasoline and run the engine until it is dry. Only then will I switch back to propane.
The danger of using ethanol should be more prominently noted in the manual.
The manual schematic that came with the generator was for the wrong generator. I loaded a copy of the manual off the Internet which appears to the correct one.
I will be wiring in a power transfer panel. My wife will require a checklist to do the transfer as the procedure will get involved. Example checklists would be helpful. She would be unable to start the generator manually; so, the electric starter can literally be a life saver.
Some reports indicated the presence of obvious sloppy production assembly, but my unit displayed no such problems. It started up immediately on propane.
THD is higher than I like for use with computers. As an engineer, it would appear to be a relatively simple task to provide an accessory to the generator to reduce THD.

I studied all the reviews and chose the 9500DF Westinghouse. What I look for in surveying multi reviews is how the unit shows up in top ratings and watch the pros and con of product. When I got my generator in and fired it up to see it run, then I got a second one for my family to use.

Great Unit

Bought a few months ago and love it. Everything came in the box to get it up and running. Including propane hose and tools to attach all accessories. Hooked it up to propane. It stared in the third starting cycle. Not had a single problem with it.

Impressed with the quality of construction and design - very well made. A breeze to operate and excellent manual. I live remotely and we lose piwer all the time. We will see about durability but my confidence is up due to first impressions.

Excellent Design and Features

My husband and I bought this generator to run our well pump, because it will be another month until electricity is installed on our property. We are super impressed by the design...even little things like the convenient placement of the oil cap and the gas gauge are great. The multiple outlet types will allow us to use this directly with our camper, to provide power for construction tools, and in case of a power outage. The electric start and remote start are also super handy. A great generator for the price!
