After a severe storm took out our power for days, we checked numerous generators. This had the features we wanted at a good price point

Seemed good at first...

Bought this 6mo ago. Initially when we did the break-in the item seemed amazing. Started easily and handled the load of my house well. THEN one day in the middle of the winter when it was -20C and the power went off (ie when we really needed it) I went to start it up and nada. Wouldn't start. We had it plugged in the whole time but wouldnt work. Partner (who is quite mechanically adept) tried the pull cord and couldn't get it to go or figure what was wrong with it. We decided maybe too cold. So, last month when temps were just hovering around freezing we tried again. Now it doesnt even TRY to start when you push the autostart or remote. Terrible let down. Sure it's under warranty but what a massive disaster to be left in the dark and cold with a brand new generator and now to be left with the immense hassle of trying to get it fixed under warranty. Run dont walk from this product!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your review. Many factors can affect the operation as you describe, and many are minor fixes that can be done by you. Cold temp do effect start-ups below 30 degrees and at those temps, a cold weather stat procedure is outlined in the manual. Also if the unit is left with gas in the tank that is not treated with a fuel stabilizer and the unit is not exercised regularly gas can become unstable and cause the varnish to build up in the carburetor and fuel system. The carburetor may need cleaning. Please contact customer care at the number in your manual for assistance.

I bought this in June of 2021 as a partial house backup in case of a power outage. Thankfully to this date I have not had to use it. However, I did test run it using propane and found it easy to connect and start. I really like the remote start/stop feature and will plan to run a refrigerator, small deep freeze, a window air conditioner and of course some lights if the need arises. Had to get a Hotel during power outage before I bought it, so I know have peace of mind in case it happens again.

Powerful robust generator!

Easy to set up, clear concise instructions. Not too heavy to move around once the wheels are attached. Gives a great feeling of security having it set up with a transfer switch and proper heavy duty cable to power the whole house in an outage.
I would recommend this to a friend!
