Initial quality issue but resolved in the end

This generator was easy to get out of the box and assembled and looks great. Unfortunately it would only run on gas. When trying to run on LP it would not start and I could hear LP leaking out and smell it. I called Westinghouse customer service to report the leak and initially they wanted me to take it to their service center which was 2 hours away. I was thankful they did end up allowing me to take it to a local engine repair shop. The engine repair shop told me the responsiveness from Westinghouse's customer service was poor and it took over a week to be able to talk with somebody to get service authorized. Customer service figured it to be a bad fuel selector valve so they sent out a new part. After the replacement fuel selector valve did not fix the problem the engine repair shop diagnosed the issue to be a design flaw and tried escalating the issue to Westinghouse's engineering group. Again the responsiveness from Westinghouse was poor and it took 6 weeks before the engine repair shop was able to get to the right engineering people at Westinghouse and convince them that they had a design flaw and to get them to ship a replacement generator. I was thrilled when the replacement generator fired up right away on LP. While frustrating that it took almost 10 weeks from the time I ordered to the time I had a working dual fuel generator I am happy that Westinghouse stood behind their product. I selected this generator for the features and value and in the end I am satisfied that is what I got with this generator. Hopefully after the initial quality issues this will be a dependable generator for me for years to come.

Things I like so far......Very easy to put together and set up for test start. Wheels went on very well, connecting the battery was a piece of cake and the actual adding of oil could have been soooo much easier. I'll explain later. Generator fired right up, is not as loud as I though it would be, especially when you close the doors. No different than hearing a lawn mower outside. Tried all the plugs, hooked up different items that would pull a lot of power and everything went fine. Now for the couple of things I didn't like. I called to find out approx how long the generator would run on half power with a full 20lb propane tank. They called me back the next day and said they did not have that information because the generator was fairly new. I'm not sure how you don't have that info. I think that's kind of a big deal. I went to a competitors web site where I easily found the info. 5 hours is the answer, just in case you wanted to know. The other thing (which is not a big deal at all but more of a minor annoyance) I could not find any information on how much oil to add. The book just said keep adding until dipstick shows full. Come on, it's empty!! The least you could say is it will take a little more than 3/4 of the bottle. I ended up checking probably 5 or 6 times so I would not over fill it. It actually took almost the whole thing, but to be on the safe side, I wouldn't go too much past 3/4 before you check.

I was surprised to find USB ports for charging cell phones and computers. Also had no idea it had a remote start feature and a trickle charger for the battery. The digital readout for volts, frequency and elapsed time is very handy. Started right up and seems to be a quality unit. I have 3 hrs of powering the entire house with no problems. I am hurricane ready!

I just started and used my new gen fort he first time and want to say that it was easy to start and quite. I hooked up some power tools a cooler. THe gen didnt even skip a beat
