Good but frustrating.

I just received my wgen7500 dual fuel. It came package well and in good shape. The problem started when I tried to install the feet to the under side of the generator. The nut that was welded to the frame to receive the bolt was welded on crooked and the bolt would not thread in straight. After trying for an hour I finally got it started but was cross threaded. As I tried to tighten it down the bolt snapped off. I then had to fabricate my own mounting system for that foot. Something else you should know is if you turn the generator off while running on propane and then try to restart it, it will backfire through the muffler because propane is still feeding into the motor I guess. The only way to stop this is to shut propane tank down immediately when you turn generator off even if its only for 2-3 minutes before you are going to restart it, it will backfire. This kind of defeats the purpose of having a remote start if you have to go turn the propane off and on each time you want to start it. The next frustrating thing was when I went to register the generator, the form asked for a serial #. Well there is not a serial # on the tag, only a model # and a part #. I am assuming the part # is the serial # but not sure so I gave all the #s on the tag and they can figure it out. Over all the machine seems to run good on both gas and propane and started right up when I tried.

Hard to start out of box

After a ton of research I bought the westgen 7500DF. Really easy to assemble but crazy heavy. Did not start on gasoline or propane right out of the box. My father-in-law spent a couple hours and 2 battery charges to finally get it started on gasoline then it easy switched to propane. The other problem was gasoline was dripping out of the gasket at the fuel shut off switch so every time it was toggled, gasoline would steadily drip out for 10 secs. Second time starting it up also was very difficult to start. It basically won't start cold on propane; you have to start on gas then switch to propane. Good thing it has a manual pull cord because the battery is very small and quickly drains with failed start attempts. We leave the battery charger (comes with it) plugged in all the time and have a back up battery plugged in too just in case. Remote Maine winters are no joke. We haven't even tried the key fob yet (which was definitely a plus and factored into choosing this model/brand) because it seems ridiculous that it will start with just a push of a button. On the good side, once it gets started it runs fantastic and is pretty quiet. You can easily switch between gasoline and propane without skipping a beat which is awesome for changing propane tanks. Little to no odor on propane and much less odor on gasoline than with previous generators. Our electrician hooked this up to our house and the entire house runs with just the flip of a switch. The generator itself seems like very good quality parts but the key fob is pretty cheaply made. I'll update once we try the fob. Overall I am glad I purchased this and I think it will serve us well. Wish it had worked better out of the box and that there were videos or additional instructions for finessing this to start when it doesn't. Without my father-in-laws help we would have returned this.

Quiet generator at a great purchase

I purchased this generator after a lot of research. We live in an area that is subject to weather disrupting our electricity so I needed a dependable unit that had multi fuel sources. Our last outage also resulted in our local gas stations not have gasoline, and our local electric company was not giving us accurate information regarding power being restored. After experiencing several outages over the years, we decided that the uncertainty was stressful. We weren't crazy about running extension cords throughout the house or investing in a standby generator. This generator was a great solution. We have set up the capability to run most of our home using this generator and a transfer switch. We have run the generator several times during its break in period, and it is truly a relatively quiet unit. I have already recommended this setup to friends who live in the area. Great solution at a relatively economic price.
