I just received this unit a few days ago but wow what a beautiful unit. I expect great things from it. I took off the standard front legs and installed casters to make it easier to move around. I called today to buy a 50A transfer switch kit (item number 210076) only to be told the they no longer sell them. Bummer. Would have been nice to have their switch to go with my generator.

BAD OUT OF THE BOX

One of the two rubber feet fell off (wrong nut & bolt). Battery disconnected by hidden connector BEHIND Control Panel (Not documented in product literature). Battery charger had bent prongs & could not be plugged into a US outlet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

WGen9500 portable generator

Having a back up generator is a must, especially if you live in an area where the power company may shut off power incase of wild fires.
As I was looking for a generator, the Westinghouse Wgen9500 portable generator peaked my intestest.
It had plenty of great reviews online and it’s very simple to use.
After I purchased mine, I had to install the wheels and mounting stand. Add oil and gasoline. Then I fired it up!
I tested it out by running an industrial 24 inch fan, a 10,000 BTU portable AC and a 5,000 Lumin flood light. All of the items were plugged in and ran flawlessly. The generator had no issue running. I would say that the generator does get quite loud, however if the whole block is out, I’m sure your neighbors would be doing the same by running their generators.
The generator itself is very nice looking, and is fairly a good size that can be stored in a shed or inside of a garage without taking too much space.
Overall, I have no complaints so far.
This generator even has a push to start and wireless remote start.
This review is coming from someone who has never owned or dealt with any other portable gas generators.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Poor quality construction, support to match

Motor stopped running after a few hours of use ( oil and gas are fine , thanks). Will not restart , and the “emergency recoil starter “ cord will not pull at all . Control panel lights indicate CO detected but the unit was running out doors with no obstructions. Support for this unit is very sub-par . Do NOT waste your money on the WGen9500.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Everything Needed

After extensive research I purchased the WGen9500 to power my necessary household electronics. The electrician hooked up the transfer switch and cable box and now I'm able to power my 3 ton heat pump unit, fridge, and necessary lighting. Customer service was great. After unpacking I couldn't find remote. Less than 24 hrs after my call, I received a call and the service rep walked me through the places to look and sure enough it was attached to the pull start cord. Setup was easy - 2 pads and 2 wheels. Easily movable with handle. Hopefully will never lose power but if we do it is nice knowing that I have something that will power the essentials.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchased this generator to use for various functions, including backup power during power outages. The documentation was well written, and the instructions were clear. I had this generator up and running in just a few minutes.. the battery start works perfect. The noise level is relatively quiet for a generator this size compared to my last one and it provides more than enough power for any use. Overall. the combination of features, power, and ease of use make it a great generator for anyone. I am extremely happy with this generator.
