I am a homesteader and live completely offgrid. Solar and generator are my main sources of power and they must be reliable. This is!!!! This generator starts everytime with absolutely no issues, runs smooth and is surprisingly great on gas. Just change the oil often. I cannot stress that enough. I finally found a good one!!!!

Won't start on propane.

Great price but will only start on gasoline. Worked with customer service who sent a part which I changed out. Started one time after that on propane only. After that will only start on gasoline. Runs fine once started. Waiting for further customer service assistance. Unfortunately it looks like I will have to load this heavy thing in my truck and drive it to a service center. Not too happy about that.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Powers my entire house with ease!

The 240v output on this generator makes it quite simple to hook up and feed your main panel during outages, and the power output is more than enough for my 2300 square foot house. The option to run on propane means that I don't have to worry about a gummed up carburator or fuel system when this generator is needed!
The derates due to propane usage coupled with my 6,500ft elevation mean I can only expect this generator to produce ~3,450 continuous running watts, but that was still more than enough for my purposes.
I tested this generator by transferring my main panel from grid power to the generator, and running in that configuration for 3.5 hours. I periodically measured current and voltage on both of the hot conductors to calculate load, and I averaged around 1400w for the 3.5 hours. The maximum load I measured was 1750w, which included my primary refrigerator/freezer (inverter driven, so no large inrush), a second full size freezer (22A inrush measured), all indoor lights, two ceiling fans, natural gas furnace (mainly the fan), a convection gas oven (manly the fan), and everything normally plugged into outlets including a couple of computers. The largest imbalance I saw was 6.2A on one side of my panel and 3.3A on the other, but the generator was still able to hold voltages relatively even at 121.6v and 122.2v from each hot to neutral. I had the propane tank on a scale during this test, and it used ~6lbs of propane, which works out to a burn rate of approximately 1.7lb/hr at 1,400w (40% of my rated output at elevation), so it should run my house for nearly 12 hours on a standard 20lb propane tank.

We wanted a generator with a little extra power for camping and we came upon this. It's also nice that it is dual fuel powered.
