Nice output / dual fuel

Purchased this product for peace of mind. I didn't remove it from its box for a couple months and just recently assembled and tested it out (on propane only so far). The good: It ran smoothly and wasn't too loud for a non-inverter generator. I ran an electric space heater (1500W) and no problems, as it should be since the generator is rated 4800W on propane. The bad: It took 8-10 good pulls to get it started -- not a deal breaker, and possibly a first-time startup thing, but it did take more pulls than I had anticipated. (I'm no stranger to pull-starts). What is more alarming is that at this time, 12 days after unpacking, the frame is showing signs of rust and either the powder coating is flaking off, or it was never completely powder coated that well to begin with, leaving exposed steel that is now in very early stages of corrosion. I've kept the unit in a shed (covered on all sides), this is a little disappointing.

I bought this for an off the grid property as a backup and I have been pleased with it so far. It starts right up and is honestly more quiet than I expected.

Great Features

The Westinghouse 5300 dual fuel is what I wanted. It was priced very reasonably for all of the features that it has. The directions were very good. It was very easy to assemble. I put the oil in the engine and install the propane line that was supplied. Hooked the 20 lb propane bottle to the line. Turned to fuel selector to propane and flipped the on/off switch to on. Opened the propane tank valve. Put the choke on start and the generator started on the 2nd pull of the engine pull start cord.

Easy Starting!

I bought this about 3 weeks ago. It did not require must pull strength to start. It is a more quiet than my previous generator. It runs like a good quality product.
