We hooked up and started the generator following all instructions upon arrival. I worked! We were very excited as our last older generator finally died on us and we were without power for 5 days. Very happy to have a little piece of mind back...fast forward 1.5 months; power out - we weren't worried as we just got a new generator! Which now that we needed it, would not start no matter how many times we tried, followed all instruction and troubleshooting tips, etc. Thankfully that power outage only lasted a few hours as did the few that followed. Now that the weather is a bit warmer and it is not windy and raining we have tried again...to no avail : ( Time to contact Westinghouse and hope for a positive outcome!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good Features for the Price

I needed a larger generator for emergencies and decided on this one largely because of the Dual Fuel and electric start. I also like that the fuel switch can be easily made while it's running on the front panel. It's very logical and convenient.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Dual Fuel - best bang for your buck

I just started up my new generator for the first time. It seems to be running great. I'm happy about the propane feature since it stores longer than gasoline. I was able to get the wheels installed and follow the instructions to get it started. It only took one pull to start. This is my first time owning and even using a generator and it seems easy enough to operate. I was able to plug in a lamp for my first test. I'm planning on getting an electrician to get my circuit breaker box set up so I can plug this into my house rather than running extension cords everywhere.

We bought this generator a few months ago and I finally fired it up today and the process was super easy. Programming the remote start was a breeze and it works like a charm.

purchased the Westinghouse wgen5300s generator a couple of weeks ago and at first the Gas was not working, but the Propane worked with out a hitch. I opened a ticket up with Westinghouse and they got back to me quickly and tried a few troubleshooting tasks. Did not work and was due to shipping damage. Like I said the propane option works great and powers through when a high load gets placed on it.
