Great Generator

Quick set-up required to get it operating and it started on the second pull. Plugged in power equipment and everything worked as advertised. Really like the efficiency feature to save on fuel while having power available when needed.

I live in Sonoma Country (northern ca.) and we have planned power shut offs several times per year. This generator has made our lives a little easier during these events.

Hurricane season protection

Bought for power outages in hurricane season in Florida. iGen2200 model runs my refrigerator and other kitchen appliances at the same time. Quieter than neighbors old style generators and very fuel efficient.

Good Generator so far

I bought this generator at the beginning of August to have on standby for occasional power outages from storms in the summer and winter. I read online that this generator is very quiet and have to say that so far, I agree. In eco mode when there is little power draw, the engine is very quiet. Even when the draw increases, the engine still isn’t extremely loud. I haven’t tried full load yet as I want to try to power a refrigerator and chest freezer in case the power goes out so we don’t lose food. I will be testing that in the coming months to confirm. There are only two concerns I have:
- It would be nice if this had a low fuel LED indicator. It does have low oil but fuel would also be helpful.
- I also wish the lower end model (iGen2200) has a wattage gauge of some type to see what the load is. I know the 2500 has an LED display to track this but would be nice if the 2200 also came equipped with some thing similar even if not as advanced as a digital screen.

Overall, I have been pleased so far. I was looking for a generator cheaper than the popular Honda’s that was quiet and still lightweight. I was looking at Wen generators as well but found a great deal on this Westinghouse and have been happy with my purchase. I don’t think I will have a need for parallel operation but it is nice to have this option just in case.

Powerful and compact

Bought in July 2020, used after a power outage and it ran everything I needed. Very impressed. I also bought the RV connection and used 2 iGen2200's connected together and it was more than powerful enough to run the AC.

Great generator, but poor quality control

To start off, I would just like to say that I did a ton of research and went back and forth about this generator vs. the much more pricey Honda EU2200i. After reading a ton of great reviews of this Westinghouse generator, I decided to give it a shot. It showed up quickly, although a day later than the initial estimated delivery date. After adding oil (included) with the handy oil funnel (also included!), and topping off with some non-ethanol gasoline, I gave the pull starter 5-10 pulls (had to get fuel through the carb for the 1st start, so this wasn't unexpected). It fired up relatively quickly, but I noticed it seemed to be laboring a bit and smoking (rich) more than it should. While I waited for it to clear up, hoping it was just attributed to the extra starting cranks before it kicked over, I see a puddle appear under the generator. I immediately shut off the generator and investigate, only to find out it's gasoline!
An hour later, I had carefully removed nearly the entire case plastics to gain better access to the working parts inside. What I found, after turning the fuel back on, was that fuel was pouring out of the fuel bowl on the bottom of the carb. I quickly disassembled the bowl, spilling additional gasoline everywhere (much to my wife's chagrin as I was now in our basement workshop area) and found that the bowl gasket was slightly pinched. A quick reset of the gasket and the leak was fixed, just leaving a lot of gasoline to dry up from all of the internal areas of the generator.
After a 1 hour no-load break in, and an oil change, I ran the generator for about 5 hours that weekend and it ran flawlessly. No muss, no fuss, it's MUCH quieter than my old predator open frame generator and ran my large electric leaf blower without hardly even idling up. All of the good reviews of this generator hold true, and it's a great value. It's just unfortunate that this quality defect made it out of the factory and to the end user (me). Had I not ran this generator prior to needing it on a job, I would have been even more frustrated. All in all, I had to take off a couple stars for the initial quality and risk of leaking fuel into the case while running. I added a picture, but it's hard to see the fuel that leaked out (probably several oz. leaked between running it for a few minutes and pulling the carb bowl off).

Awesome generator

Started out of the box, after putting the oil in, with only a few pulls. Runs my pellet smoker easily, even through the startup cycle!
