Bought this for my pickup camper. The design with the one handle makes handling a breeze. Very easy to load and unload with with the single handle. Compact size allows fitting in tight and confined spaces. Runs and works great. Highly recommend.

Easy Operation

I recently purchased the Westinghouse iGen 2200. I don't plan on handing in my "Man Card" but I was a bit worried about purchasing my first power generator mainly because I am not that mechanically inclined. First time start was very simple and easy! However, I have a couple of steps (after some research) that you should perform before your "First Startup!" (not in the manual) This will properly break-in your new generator.
Step 1: Buy some oil conditioner(I got Marvel Mystery Oil), 5w 30 Full Synthetic(not blend)oil(because this oil handles extreme cold and extreme heat) and fuel
stabilizer.
Step 2: Before adding oil remove spark plug and pour a tiny tiny bit of the oil conditioner into the spark plug hole. Then VERY slowly pull the recoil handle 10 times(this lubricates the valve cylinder) Replace spark plug.
Step 3: Pour slowly treated oil(do not over fill)
Step 4: Add Gas(with fuel stabilizer)
Step 5: Start your iGen 2200! Run for 1 hour(no load)
Step 6: Drain the old oil and put fresh conditioned oil in. Run another hour(no load)
Step 7: Repeat oil change a total of 3 times and run generator 1 hour after each oil change.
I know it sounds like a lot to do but it is very easy and will extend the life of your generator. Mine is working FANTASTIC!!

Second iGen 2200 purchase

I liked my first iGen2200 so well I have now bought a second one and a parallel cord to connect the two. They have paired up perfectly together. I'm having an electrician install a connection so that in case of power outage I can disconnect my main breaker, plug in my iGen2200s, and since my heat source is gas be able to easily power the rest of my house with these two generators. I'm quite happy with my purchases.

Lightweight, quiet. Just what I was lookng for!

We purchased this unit to provide occasional portable power around the house and more so to have power when camping if it isn't available. The unit comes complete with the required oil, a small bag of maintenance tools and very clear instructions on how to prepare it for use. Set up took less than 15 minutes to operational starting with the unit still in the box. We put it right to use powering some electric gardening equipment and it performed perfectly and ran quieter than the lawn tractor we were moving it with. The only thing worth mentioning is how the service cover removes (to add the included oil). Instructions say to remove screws and then remove panel. There are tabs on the cover that hold VERY tight after the screws are removed. I had to pull very hard on the cover to pop the tabs out. Hard enough that it felt like I was going to break or damage the cover. It eventually popped out and went back in without issue. Not a big issue, but just wanted to pass that along to future purchasers.
Over all, I'd definitely recommend this unit. Quiet, easy to move around and has all the features and functions you need for a medium level power generator.
