I just received, unpacked and set up my 12,000 DF. Started right up with propane, all is well. Time will tell about ease-of-use, reliability and will post again after I’ve had a chance to run it more.

Great Generator!

Just picked up the generator today. There is some assembly required but not bad at all. Instructions were easy to follow. Filled it up with oil and gas and it fired right up! Love the remote control feature!

Works well, but a minor gripe.

Bought this at the beginning of summer in order to ready for what has become annual multiple Public Safety Power Shutoffs. They last two to three days. We have also experienced one or two multi-day outages during each snow season here in the Sierra Foothills. We bought the generator from a local vendor and they delivered it all set up and ready to go. Had to have an electrician install a transfer box. We not only need the power to run our appliances and lights, but our well water is dependent on electrical power, as is our septic system. It works great!! We chose propane so we wouldn't have to wait in long, long lines that appear at the gas station every time their is a large power outage. One complaint: It is very difficult to drain the oil in order to change it. On my first try I made a mess on the floor next to the machine. I'm trying to jury-rig something to catch the oil and move it safely to a storage container. Westinghouse should either rethink the design so there is room to get it out safely, or provide some kind of adapter to get the oil past the obstructions.

Re 12000DF. Logic doesn’t seem to be a strong suit at Westinghouse. They require altitude adjustment above 2000’ to gas regulator but fail to provide settings to accomplish this.
Also, as a whole house 24/7/365 generator, surprising the “battery switch” must remain on. However this drains the battery! Why deliver a remote start fob if you must go out to the machine to start it? A workaround is to wire in a 110v outlet near the generator to trickle charge the battery with the included 12v charger. Added expense. ☹️
On the brighter side, the unit ran my well pump, fridge, freezer, elec. dryer, microwave, misc lights and tv. It browned out when I added the toaster. Pretty good.
Also, upper end operating temperature is sorely limited to 105 degrees. This is too low. If ambient temp is 100 and the generator is in a well ventilated shed, it might shut off when it is needed. California people pay heed, as this may not be the right unit for you, hot winds and blackouts.
Other than running tests, I have not had to use the generator yet under a power outage.
