Power house!

Purchased the WGen 12000/15000 DF and I’m so impressed. I had an electrician install a Reliance Controls PB50 (50amp) plug to my house. Used a 50amp power cord from generator to house. This generator ran 100% everything in my house. I ran the Central A/C, ceiling fans, all lights in and out the house. TV’s, microwave, wife’s blow dryer, oven, furnace no problem. Didn’t even bog down. I feel as though this thing had more to give than what I threw at it. I live in a 1700sf home so I hope this review can help those who are considering this unit. I highly recommend.

Generator meets advertised quality and performance

Ordered this Generator from Amazon.com. Arrived 7/26/2019. It arrived VERY well packaged and protected with all parts for the Generator. Very little assembly required, it was simple and quick to assemble. All instructions are very clear and easy to follow, from unpacking to the first start-up. It starts quickly and easily. I have not as yet finished wiring it to my home to put it under a load. This Generator is obviously of good quality, nothing about it cheaply made. I have no doubt it will perform well under a load. So far I am pleased with this purchase and very happy that it has a 3 year warranty, most don't have this much warranty.

Monster!!

I previously purchased a WGen 7500/9000 to power a new mobile food trailer I recently purchased. The 7500/9000 ran the trailer perfectly but it ran at about 75-80% capacity. I bought the mobile food unit with one 10,000 BTU a/c, 6 foot hood system, commercial refrigerator, hot water heater, fresh water pumping system, etc. I was concerned that being in the Louisiana heat, I would need another a/c system for the mobile unit so I decided to install another. So I upgraded to the 12,000/15,000 and powered the unit. WOW! It almost seemed like the 12,000-15,000 laughed at being connected to the mobile food unit and said “is that it?” I’ve run the unit for 6 hrs 2 days in a row with everything running and still have gas left. It starts right up with 1 push, and the remote start is a nice feature as well. I would definitely recommend this generator for a food truck. The negative thing I have to say is that it is very loud. But I’m ok with the trade-off. I’ll take the power & deal with the sound.

It is a Beast!!!

So, today was perfect weather outside. The power goes out unexpectedly. We ran the generator for a full 2 hours on gas until it was empty and power was back on. This generator powers our whole house washer, dryer. AC (4ton), TV, and lights. It did not blink with the load it carried. It is a truly a beast. After a lot of research, we decided on this one to have true back up generator. We had a certified electrician install a 50 amp inlet to the main breaker box. It is worth the peace of of mind to have it done correctly. Then we purchased our cord from Acme Tools. We recommend going with straight blade in the for the generator as it is easy to plug in and pull out. We even bought a customized cover for it. What a great product and the Westinghouse brand is second to none.

Fuel Selector Switch Mislabeled on WGEN12000DF

Great generator! Started right up on propane once I realized the fuel selector switch is mislabeled on the generator. The switch, actually, is up for gasoline and down for propane, as per the manual. See attached photo differences between generator and manual.

Still Disappointed

It's asking me to do a review for each of my warranty registrations, so this is my second one. As I mentioned previously, two new 20,000 Watt generators arrived without the washers for the axels, or the trickle chargers necessary to keep the battery ready to go during a power failure. I let the washers slide and just went to the hardware store, but the chargers are a different matter. There is no pull rope on these big units. No battery, no start. What's worse is that we've cranked them so they can run for the 5 hour break in period as you're not supposed to exceed 50% of the load during that time and we wanted them to be ready for a real power failure. Unfortunately we're experiencing random shutdowns. It can be restarted after about 30 seconds or so, but I'm wondering if the auto choke is kicking in and choking the engine. Whatever the case, this is not acceptable for units that are for emergency use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Beast I was looking for

The quality build on this item is top notch and was packed to perfection. Not a scratch on the unit! I’m retiring my little Briggs Q6500. This will run my entire house including 4 and 3 ton ACs with soft start. I will post a follow up review once everything is connected.

WGen12000DF Portable Electric Generator

I bought this generator and it was delivered 6 weeks later. Just received it today, 8-3-21. The delivery Co. was very good, no apparent damages after checking carefully and the delivery Co. helped me move it into my shop. The quality of this generator is excellent! I like that this one produces adequate clean electricty at <5% THD. Its purpose is to power up some of my house lights and appliances and a submersible water well. After researching, I find the price is very reasonable. I will break-in the generator this coming weekend as the manual directs. It has a battery start (no pull rope), remote control & idle speed control when power is not required. I have a 100 gal. propane tank that will last about 2-3 continuous days before I must refill and/or I can then use 20# propane bottles or gasoline if needed for a longer period of time. It is saved in my air conditioned shop until I wheel it out for use. In my opinion, propane is the best cleanest and most trouble free fuel. When determining how many watts you need, be sure to stay at or below 80% of the rated watts and be sure to reduce the wattage rating also by 4% if used during 100F weather.
