Worth the money

Retired USAF guy here. 34 years working on support equipment. Knew westinghouse was a good product, but hadn't seen any in action. Little skeptical. Bought the 12k continuous/15k surge gas engine. Wired a 6 gauge circuit to the breaker box on its own 50 amp breaker. Runs the whole house. 3 br, 2 bath, 2400 Sq ft...2 fridges, 1 freezer, electric water heater and a 5 ton central unit. Thoroughly impressed. Well worth the money. Am considering upgrading to the 20K later on down the road.

Broke generator

I bought this due to living in Texas with Hurricane season coming. Hurricane in the Gulf and I went to set it up and it wouldn't work. I called service department they were great. Missing fuse would be mailing in 5-7 days. I said since you sold me an expensive broke generator shouldn't you overnight the part. Their reply 5-7 days. So here a sit after hurricane with no electricity and a defective generator in my garage.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bad and Good

This is a plus/minus review. On the plus side, the generator pulls like a mule. It powers a 4 ton AC, freezer/fridge combo and a dozen LED lights without a problem. That is impressive. All on propane, which is the weaker of the two fuel options. On the minus side, I don't think the Westinghouse engineers ever took one of these gens out of the box and tried to start it. In no particular oder, the battery per factory hook up is backwards (see photo where I reversed Positive and Negative leads), the wheel placement interferes with the 220v plug (the wheel placement places way too much stain on the plug), the fuel selector is anything but straightforward, it is unclear from the quickstart manual about how much oil to put in. And my battery lost a cell during shipment. Westinghouse Support told me to go to a local auto parts store to get it replaced.

THIS IS MY 2ND WESTINGHOUSE GENERATOR.BOUGT IT TO POWER A 2ND HOUSE. ALWAYS OWNED GENERAC GENERATORS. I AM GLAD I GAVE WESTINGHOUSE A TRY.VERY HAPPY WITH THE PRODUCT,GOOD QUALITY,GOOD FEATURES

Well Built

After our loss of power generation due to extended freezing weather in February 2021, I knew I was going to buy a solution. It took a couple of months to evaluate needs and choices, then another month to compare retail prices and availability. I was happy to find this U.S.-engineered Westinghouse packed with features and exactly what I need.
An electrician installed a 200 amp, double throw transfer switch and 50 amp receptacle for this generator. This will allow me to switch over to generator power and add load incrementally. It handled my largest power users without a quiver.
I am very happy with it.

I bought this a few months back , just took it out of the box... ready for miltin... but the generator wont start.

So far so good

This is the 2nd Westinghouse generator I’ve purchased. Both have been as pictured with very easy instructions for assy and operation. For 12,000 watt it’s quieter than my older 4000W Onan genset. It’s been running small power tools for a breakin period, then will be hooked up with a transfer switch for emer house power.
I would recommend this to a friend!
