Shipping or Assembly Damage

We bought an iGen 2500 unit back in February. After a short power outage last night, decided it was time to check it out and get it ready for the next one.
Unpacked the unit which had not been opened yet and everything was going really well. Well packaged, easy and concise start-up instructions, great compact unit. Filled up with oil and gas and ready to start. But it wouldn’t start. After quite a few pulls and it wasn’t sounding like it would catch, did some trouble shooting and found out that the spark plug and the plastic on the connector were broken. Odd as there was no damage to the box, internal packaging material or the exterior of the generator, and seems like everything is pretty well protected inside the unit.
Removed the spark plug and the broken plastic and ceramic pieces from the area, then got a new spark plug and reinstalled it. Closed things up and the unit started on the first pull.
So, still happy we have the generator and excited to be ready for the next outage. Just took longer than I expected. And very odd related to the damage.

Many options

We have not fired off yet, but are very impressed with the options on it and the fact that details in manuel are extensive and even cover yearly maintenance. We needed one that would run our camper AC, and I do not anticipate any problems with this one. Only reason not a 5 review is because we have not broken it in yet.

First impressions

I have only had this generator one day but initial impressions are mostly favorable. It started easily and worked. I used it with various items in both standard and ECO mode and it worked properly. The LED display could use more detailed information in the manual.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Attention To Detail/Quality!

As expected, this generator is quite, and easy to start! It is the little things that I notice while setting it up, that are awesome! Things like, the little tool kit that comes with it, has every tool you need to service the generator. The cover that you remove to access the oil dipstick, has 2 Phillips screws. When you loosen those screws, they don't come out. They are made to stay in the door. Awesome because then I won't loose them! The funnel that comes with it, that you use to fill the oil, is threaded so it threads into the oil port. It is little attention to detail items like this, that makes the Westinghouse brand the superior brand!
