A great generator from a great company

This review is for the Igen2500. First of all, let me say that I have been using this generator only for about a week, but I have been putting it through its paces every way I know how. I've been running it nonstop for hours and hours, I've been using the air conditioner on my RV, I've been cycling things on and off from no load to full load and just running the heck out of it as much as I can to make sure I got a good one. Besides that I have been pestering them relentlessly through email and conversations and they have been so nice every step of the way. Every question I have had for them regarding this generator and how it works and if certain things are normal they have responded to either by email or asking for my phone number and calling me right back and have just been wonderful. I have talked to customer service, I've talked to sales, I've talked to engineering and I have been pleased with everything. The generator runs like a charm, I don't know how Honda's run when it comes to generators but I have one of the nicest Honda mowers that they make. This runs every bit as well as my Honda lawnmower. It puts out enough power to turn on my air conditioner on my RV with nothing else and that's 13500 BTUs. If I pay attention to what's drawing power there's nothing in my camper I can't run with just this one generator, and as soon as I can I'm going to buy another so that I can parallel because I know I'll have plenty of power. If you're looking for a generator and customer support is important to you, then buy this generator. I have had questions about the voltage it puts out, about how hot the exhaust gets, about the lights on the display, and I have been told every step of the way exactly why it does everything it does and that if something goes wrong they will fix it or replace it and that they'll make it right. I just can't express enough how well they do customer service. I would give 20 Stars if I could.

Choke knob would not turn to choke, had to force it

had to force choke knob to choke, would not start in choke ,when I did get it to run in run mode, acted like choke might still be engaged as it ran a little rough. I pullled the spark plug and found the gap was 0.029 instead of 0.032, after reseting gap, ran alot better

Powerful, but Quiet

I purchased this generator specifically because of it's higher than competition wattage range (for generators in the same class/style). The reason I need the higher wattage is because I have a camp set up at 2,800' above sea level, but I also want to use it at home which is about 600' above sea level. Each manufacturer (including Honda and Yamaha) indicate the percentage of power loss for each 1000' of elevation gain. Some manufacturers account for this by requiring that the end-user take the generator to an authorized dealer for a "carburetor adjustment kit" which changes the operation so that the generator only runs at high altitude. That power loss would not allow me to run all the items I want at my camp and the carb kit wouldn't let me run the generator at home. I simply needed a bigger generator and didn't want to move up to 3100W for portability and cost reasons. This generator's wattage size is perfect for me. I followed the instructions for filling the oil and gas with no problem. I could have started the generator on the first pull but decided to give a couple of rotations to work the new oil throughout the motor. I held off on the second pull, but nearly started the machine again. I only pulled a little bit on the third pull and it fired right up. I have heard the Hondas and the Yamahas in person, and they are quiet. But in my estimation, this unit is just as quiet in idle/power-saver mode. The generator obviously gets louder when drawing more current. I tested the power capacity with a 13A/120v benchtop table saw with an induction motor; generator had no problem starting and running the saw even when I made some demanding cuts. At full power, the saw was much louder than the generator. For me, the 2200/2500W is a requirement that no other manufacturer can meet in this machine class/type. I was pleasantly surprised how quiet it is. Finally, the price-point on this amount of wattage and portability was also a factor.

I just received my IGEN 2500. Everything I needed to get it going was included in the box, including the oil. Started on the 3rd pull. Put an electric heater on it to test its output and everything worked perfectly. I bought it to provide safe, reliable power for operating my ham radio equipment off the grid.

I bought two of these for use when camping with my 40ft Fifth Wheel. I am very happy with how quiet they are and the ease for storage. They are light weight and easy to carry. Looking forward to using these on the road. When running them, I don't even hear them inside the camper.
