Lasted a year. Will update if fixed by warranty

I bought this after an ice storm that took power out to my house for 9 days. I had it connect to a house house power inlet and it worked great for at least the first month (tested a couple times). Stored it away spring through November and figured I should pull it out today to test to see if its battery was still good. The control panel was totally dead. Battery tested normal, just cant get the thing to start via any method (manual, push button electric, remote, auto choke override). Hopefully Westinghouse fixed my issues and if I'm able, I will update this review. If it worked the way it did in my testing, I would happily give it a 5 star review.

The Key Fob is a nice touch

I purchased this on 9/1/19 because I never want to go through what we did after Hurricane Florence. We were without power for 10 days which doesn't seem like a big deal except it is very hot and humid were we live and my wife ended up in the ER because of it. My criterion for a generator is one that can run everything especially the AC. I figured out what the draw of the AC is when it is running and with this generator, there is plenty of power to spare, also it has plenty of power to handle the AC start up. I originally thought about getting a Generac whole house system, but it cost more than I could afford. So for less than half of one of those systems, I bought the WGen9500DF, I also purchased a Suncast small shed, a 50 amp service and a mechanical lockout that prevents the generator feed breaker to be on at the same time as the main breaker which makes it perfectly legal in our state. No transfer switch to worry about and I can run anything in the house. I installed it and tested it using propane, the generator ran flawlessly and it ran everything including the AC. The only thing left to do is to modify the enclosure by adding ventilation through louvered screens and a box fan. See the pictures that I added.

Used for Home Emergency Power

I purchased a Westinghouse Dual Fuel generator to be used for emergency power during a wind event or fire utility outage. I wanted enough power to be able to run our gas furnace in the winter, while keeping the refrigerator operating, and having lights, internet, computer, and cell phones charging at the same time. This WGEN9500DF model delivers more than enough power to make that happen. I built a louvered enclosure to house the system and protect it from the weather and chose to power it with Propane since unused gasoline tends to go bad over time. With the larger 30lb Propane tank I expect to get 15-20 hours, depending on demand, before having to refill. The 240v 50A generator output is connected to my 50A RV Power supply, to provide a path to back feed to the house in the event of a power failure (after disconnecting the utility Main Service to the house of course). So far this is a good working solution to a potential outage.

Will know better once I get it put together

I was excited to get this generator but there are things to do before it can be used. The first step in the instructions, install the feet. Sounds easy enough. After trying, by hand, for quite some time, and not being able to get any bolt started in any nut (nuts are welded to the frame), I get out my magnifying glass and notice there are burrs in the nuts down by the welds. They are on all the nuts. I’ve opened a case with Westinghouse. So far, not so good when it comes to quality control.

Right out of the box, fueled on propane, it would produce only 108/216 VAC.

After receiving this Westinghouse 9500DF I’ve been exploring the features, which are many. Dual fuel, electric start, quick connects on the battery, remote start and stop, fuel gauge, led information and hours, metal gas tank, propane hose and regulator, basic tools, oil, and even a built in trickle charger. To keep it short I’m happy with my purchase, generator is performing as expected thus far.
