I’ve been wanting a dual fuel generator since hurricane zeta left us without power for 5 days. A friend of mine has the 9500df and is exactly what I need to power my house during power outages.

Best generator ever

It has a lot of power the support a house during the power outage without breaking bank, very portable and dual fuel option is awesome, I ran out of gasoline in the middle of the night and swapped to LPG tank which I can keep so many of them in my garage for years without any trouble and save the night. Noise not bad for that power output level, remote start is nice.

Caught my Eye at First Sight

This model caught my eye from first sight. The price was right. I really liked the way it looked. Westinghouse is a well-known brand that goes way back for me. Then I started comparing other brands and that’s what really hooked me. This model had all the bells and whistles at a more reasonable price. I read a few reviews and they also spoke well of this model. Bottom line, I am so glad I stuck with my first choice. The Westinghouse WGEN9500DF.
The front panel has covers for all the outlets. Big plus. I learned from other users that dual fuel is a feature to look for. This unit had it. The handles make it easier to move this 220-pound beast of a machine. I can move in in and out of my shed with not a lot of effort or cause for concern.
I fired it up yesterday. It worked out of the box. I even cranked it up by hand and that went well. I hooked it up to my circular saw and a lamp. In a couple of weeks, I’ve got a licensed electrician coming by to connect it to my house electric panel via Reliance Pro Trans 2 50 Amp generator transfer switch.
I’m confident it will handle the 8000-watt load I plant to throw at it without breathing too heavy. This baby maxes out at around 12,500 watts. So, I’ve got room to spare. I will run it in the back yard and connect it to my panel by the front of the house via a 75-foot 50 amp, 6 awg cable.
My plan is to run it every time I mow my lawn. I will try to fit in a full-house power transfer every quarter to make sure my plan is sound.
I am so happy with this purchase.

Hurricane proof!

The Winter Storm Uri event got me off of go on a generator. After refitting and re-wiring the house for this generator we are now hurricane proof! The workmanship is good, it looks like a well put together unit. We did a disaster drill and it seems to work as advertised. I would give it 5 stars but have to give it 4 because using natural gas for fuel will 'void the warranty'. Why it will 'void the warranty' is a mystery.

I bought this ( 9500DF) bad boy March 15th 2021 and received it Friday the 19th four days earlier then expected. Only plan on using this if power goes out to my house. Nothing was damaged, not even a scratch so good job by the freight company. Did have to get more oil then what they ship you because it was about 1/2 quart too low. Setting up the key fob was easy. Attached the cord they gave me to my propane tank and to the generator, flipped the battery switch up and BANG, Started right up on the first try with my key fob. Only planning on using gas as a backup if I run out of propane so I can't tell you how this baby works with gas. I would definitely recommend this unit if your looking for this size.
