Great Light

I got sent this light to test by Coast. I found it quite useful, mostly while working on cars or plumbing. It works great in the rain and had no issues with it even after dropping it several times. The voice activation responds great especially when your hands are covered in grease and the light is nice and bright.
I did have issues with the housing. It didn't stay in place and kept falling all the way forward and kinda blinding myself.

Awesome headlight!

This headlamp is awesome! The voice commands work great. The turbo mode is really bright. The spot and flood are great. The spot reaches out to 20 to 30 feet easily. This light will light up an attic or a backyard. The red and green are great for low light situations or navigating hands free. Thank you COAST for another great product! This light is great for HVAC techs, electricians, hunters, and hiking/camping.

I was sent this light as a field tester to run it through its paces, see if it’s something I’d like and to give a review.
I have a headlight that I’ve had for years. There’s nothing wrong with it and it lives up to its title.. a light that can be worn on your head.
This light, while it also is a light that you can wear on your head, it has some features that I personally never thought about having on a headlamp.
The voice activated feature is actually very helpful. I am constantly going in and out of buildings with my hands full and being able to verbally have the light turn off, on, adjust brightness and so on.. a valuable feature that I didn’t know that I needed.

I definitely recommend this light. It’s light weight, made from really high quality materials. You can charge the rechargeable battery with the battery in the light, or you can take the battery out and use triple A’s and you can still charge the battery even while it’s outside of the light.
I’m impressed with this headlamp.

"wow" game changer !

I'm lucky enough to be one of coast's field testers and this product blew my mind. The voice commands work right out of the box. No more getting grease, paint or blood all over everything to change light modes. Old eyes need light to see well even during the day and this light has plenty of options for brightness with hands free changing. I have a lot of coast products that are great but this may be the most useful yet. And it has a built in rechargeable battery.

Great Headlamp

I was sent this headlamp to test and it's my new favorite headlamp. I have a lot of flashlights and headlamps, most are Coast, but this is the first I've owned with voice control. It's a great feature to have especially when ur hands are full or dirty. All you have to do is say whatever command you want and the headlamp instantly does it. I wasn't expecting it to work so well but every command you give works every time and it doesn't change in error from picking up some other talking or sounds like I thought may happen. The voice control feature puts this headlamp above the rest. And like all coast lights its extremely bright and the power lasts long. Seems like it's built well and will be durable. Plus it comes with the coast lifetime warranty if it ever malfunctions and Coast actually honor their warranty unlike most companies these days. Coast is the only brand of light I'll ever purchase at this point. Great products at reasonable prices so can't go wrong.

Solid Coast quality with useful features

Recently selected as a Coast field tester I was given the opportunity to review the FL97R rechargeable LED headlamp. Upon receipt, I could tell that this product checked many boxes - as someone who has a collection of flashlights and headlights I routinely use headlamps for many chores including painting, auto repair, and sharpening knives, as well as navigating into and out of the woods at dawn and dusk during hunting season.
The hands-free lighting option combined with brightness/colored LED voice control "Coast High", Coast Medium", "Coast Red", etc., gives me the tool to make things just that more convenient. Hands dirty with paint, dripping in motor oil, or boning that elk or deer in the dark can be accomplished without touching the controls.
The light gives off up to 1250 lumens, which can be focused to either a spot or flood (sorry - no voice focusing!). It comes with a rechargeable battery, but uses alkaline batteries as well. The headband is 'grippy' and has a quick release latch. Charging is accomplished using the included cable via the USB port on the back and voice control is activated via a push button on the bottom of the housing. Charging status is displayed via a small LED on the back under the charging port cover ( red - charging, green - charging complete)
In sum, another great Coast product with useful features - definitely worth adding to the gear stash.

Voice control works great

I figured I would have to scream to get the voice control to work but you can speak fairly quiet and it picks up your voice. Great beam quality and it’s not too heavy on your head so it doesn’t sag down your forehead. Love it!
