Not for trail running

The voice control is great. I use it for night running on roads. When oncoming cars high beam me I can say "coast turbo" and return fire. And they notice. I can also "coast minimum" or "coast red" and not blind other people out walking their dogs.
Now that the negative. I really wanted to be able to use this for trail running, but I need to tilt the light down, but then one hard step and it flops down. The band is also not very comfortable at the light after long hours. And not easily adjustable. What I'd really love is this voice control on my competitor head lamp that frankly has better construction and a Boa adjustable band.

We've been using it in the different departments at work and all are in agreement that it lives up to expectations. From the maintenance, sanitation, inventory, and mechanical shop it performed flawlessly. No complaints at all especially with the voice control.

Great light when you have heavy gloves on

Finally got to test out myFL97R light elk hunting. Started my two hour uphill hike at 5am. Being able to use voice commands without speaking loud was important to me and the best part was easy commands without having to fumble around with gloved hands. Watched others I was with having trouble changing their light color to red or a low beam. How many times in the past I had to push buttons repeatedly until I got the light on that I wanted. This is a game changer for me.

I cannot begin to tell you how many head lamps I have that simply just don't work or won't cut it. I have tried just about every other one and there is always something wrong and it's become increasingly frustrating trying to find one that will be up to my personal standards. And with this one here, I believe I finally have.
This headlamp delivers exceptional sustained brightness, very useful beam modes, rugged build, and long battery life. It performs like a professional tool rather than a gimmick gadget. The strap design has this center-of-gravity balance that keeps the lamp stable during movement and while bending over, minimizing head bounce during any activity such as gardening, working in a garage, or simply taking your dog for a walk in the lower light evening hours. It's just an exceptional piece of equipment that is added to my arsenal of tools.
The best and most impressive feature that this device has is the ability to listen to you and your commands, then promptly abides by them. You have greasy or dirty or oily fingers and dont want to get it dirty, simply state the command you need to have done, such as gettting brighter or dimmer lighting, or just turning it off or on altogether. I have not seen any other product do this and do it so well. I simply love this lamp. I recommend this thing to anyone and everyone in the need for a device like this. You will not be disappointed!

Changed my mind about coast

In full disclosure I was sent this light by coast. To begin with im impressed with the build quality. Coast in my mind for quite a long time was always cheaper in comparison to something like a streamlight. However this head lamp is robust. Made out of a nice heavy duty plastic. And definitely changed my opinion in favor of coast.
As for the lighting, all the modes work as advertised and the voice activation is simple to use and remember the commands. The beam adjusts pleasantly and easily between flood and spot, manually of course. The red and green lights are sufficient for the purpose they serve. Probably my favorite feature is what i call the reading mode. A nice soft white light thats bright enough to see print clearly but way dimmer than the low settings. I highly recommend this product.

I was happy to receive this as a field tester for the company and have been pleased with the results. I especially like the fact that you can either use AAA batteries or the included rechargeable option. Very handy if you happen to be somewhere without a way to charge, and then you can just bring extra batteries. Seems to be well built, and I always love having the red light feature for light chores or other evening activities that don’t require a super bright and focused light. I probably won’t be using the voice command feature much, even though I can see how it would be really useful for certain folks and activities. This will be the light that I keep in my glovebox for roadside emergencies and car camping adventures!

I have an earlier model headlamp from the same company. At the same lumen rating. As an automotive technician, I will say that new product with the voice control is very helpful. Comparatively to other products that have a motion sensor that is quite inconvenient in use. The FL 97R headlamp with voice control is the bee's knees. It's very nice to be able to adjust brightness and color of light by voice .
I will say my other headlamp that is comparable from the same company but without voice commands. My battery does last longer. Obviously it's going to take a little more power to always be active, but if you have the right battery set up, the exchange between batteries is very easy.
This lamp has easy focus adjustment and I like how they redesigned the battery pack to swing out a different direction from the actual angle of the lamp position.
I will say my other headlamp that is comparable from the same company but without voice commands. My battery does last longer. Obviously it's going to take a little more power to always be active, but if you have the right battery set up, the exchange between batteries is very easy.

I really loved the strap the grip and buckle was a very nice touch and also loved the warm light great for working up close or reading and the focus on thr other light was great as well
