Best decision ever

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Having never lived in a residence with central, in-wall or window air conditioners, I finally bit the big one and bought one. I can get thru a couple of weeks of heat but June 2024 was a beast and I thought if that was what the summer was going to be I was toast. I have used it for a couple of weeks now and couldn't be happier.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very effective and relatively quite. Looks better than most other AC units and comes with an exhaustive trim kit.

Smaller, should publish plug configuration
on August 27, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This model is smaller than the previous one. It is through the wall, and the size of the hole in my wall has not changed. Was able to fill in the extra space without much problem. The unit arrived with the top left edge crumpled which does not seem to affect its operation. It is powerful and puts out a lot of cold. Is twice as noisy as the earlier model. Final suggestion, demonstrate the plug configuration in the online catalog. This is critical. Despite all this, I recommend this AC as overall it is good and I trust the brand.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] bad smell coming out of unit
Response from frigidaire.comBy ChristiOnline Outreach SpecialistOctober 14, 2024
Hi, noems. Thank you for your feedback! A bad smell coming from the unit can be caused by several factors:

Dirty Filters: If the air filters are clogged with dust and debris, it can lead to poor air quality and unpleasant odors. Regularly cleaning or replacing the filters can help alleviate this issue.

Mold and Mildew: Excess moisture can lead to the growth of mold or mildew in the unit, especially if it has been running in a humid environment. This is often accompanied by a musty smell. Cleaning the interior components and ensuring proper drainage can help.

Burning Dust: If the air conditioner hasn't been used for a while, dust can accumulate on the heating elements. When the unit is turned on, this dust may burn off, producing a burning smell. This should dissipate after a short time but should be monitored.

Electrical Issues: A burning or chemical smell could indicate an electrical issue, such as burnt wiring or components. This is a serious concern and should be addressed immediately by a qualified technician.

Refrigerant leaks: Although less common, a refrigerant leak can produce a chemical odor. If you suspect this, it's important to turn off the unit and contact a professional.

Animals or debris: Occasionally, small animals may find their way into the unit, or debris might get trapped inside, leading to unpleasant odors.

To resolve the issue, check and clean the air filters, inspect for any visible mold or debris, and ensure proper drainage. If the smell persists or is severe, please feel free to contact us by live chat by visiting our website at Frigidaire.com or by phone at 1-800-374-4432. Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at your convenience, and we will be happy to assist. - Christi
