Wife loves to make Ice Cream but doesn't always want to deal with the large quantity; enter the 1 Pint Wonder. For a very reasonable price, this little unit gets it done--not much to it and no fancy buttons and lights--just function. The only downside we have noticed: the opening to pour in your mixture is quite small and requires a steady hand and spouted utensil to avoid a messy situation.
I had a large one (1.5qt), and loved it. This one works OK, but not as good as the larger one. I think it is because the paddle doesn’t actually scrape the sides as closely as the larger model’s paddle does, so the frozen part isn’t getting incorporated into the mixture as well. The soft serve result is therefore more liquid with the pint size. The fully frozen result is fine after a few hours in the freezer, though denser and needs to thaw a little before serving. I have tried running the process a little longer, but the frozen device starts to defrost too much and that’s counter-productive.
FYI, I found out from Cuisinart that the container holds 1 3/4 cups of mixture to be frozen. Many online recipes are made for 1.5 quart size so I just make 1/3 recipe and it has worked pretty well.
I received this as a birthday gift and we love it. The vanilla recipe that came with it tastes wonderfully like the old fashion ice cream I enjoyed as a child.
I received the ice cream maker as a gift. It makes a pint in around 25 minutes. My only complaints are that I accidentally broke the top corner tab on the lid in the first week and sometimes I can’t get the paddle to stay put in its slot. For the price, it does a good job.
The ice cream maker makes only a pint. So it is a perfect amount . However, I wish it included a recipe booklet.I need exact amounts for various flavors.
Love our ice cream maker! Nothing tops making fresh ice cream from home! Easy to use and clean up! I've used commercial ones when I use to work as a pastry chef and this isn't as big as what I've worked on before but it definitely does the job! 😋
