It's amazing how light this dryer feels- having the motor in the handle is genius. You aren't exhausted and sweaty after finishing a thick head of hair! Although it protects against heat damage, my hair did feel different after drying (maybe coarse?) but nothing significant since I use softening product before. Good drying time - approximately the same as a large-wattage dryer but with way less work and noise. I have a LOT of hair and was done in 8 minutes.
Tip: the cord is extremely thick and cumbersome; think a computer cord/vacuum cord. Wont' fit neatly in a small storage drawer. The dryer comes with a leather hook for storage - I just put hooks under my vanity- one for the dryer, and one for the cord alone. Problem solved.
Bought this as early Christmas gift to me, from me! I have thick, shoulder length hair and it dries in about half the time as my old 1800W dryer. It doesn't feel nearly as hot while drying and my hair is shiny and healthy looking now. I noticed other reviews saying there was a learning curve. I had no issues with drying or styling the first time I used it. I followed instructions and changed out the nozzle when I started styling. Love it and well worth the $$. It's so quiet I don't wake up hubby when I use it.
Both my daughter and I have very thick curly hair and we dread when we have to wash it because the drying time is so long. The Dyson Supersonic has cut our drying time in half and it is at the lowest heat setting. My daughter also commented that she liked that the Supersonic wasn't as loud as our other dryer and I would have to agree. I can listen to music or have a conversation without yelling while the Supersonic is running. I am really pleased with this product and though I think anyone can benefit from it, it is especially great for curly hair.
This machine is such a creative easy to use and very gentle on my hair!!! I absolutely love the product and highly recommend it to everyone!!! You won't be disappointed!
This dryer really does leave you with noticeably shiney, soft hair. For me, I'm still learning how to style with it but I think with the right brush and enough youtube tutorials I'll get there.
The things I'm struggling with is you can't hold it between your knees while getting a new section of your hair- it will turn off or pause if you are covering the vented area on the bottom. Also The hook strap hasn't worked for me, but I typically don't hang it anyway. Finally-- the knots I have gotten when I don't use a comb have been some of the worst of my life!
All this said, my hair is dry in 3.5-4 minutes and I'm not a wiz with hair drying to begin with. I think I was looking for a shortcut with this dryer and aside from drying time and shine the styling component is still very much up to you. (As an aside- my fiancé LOVES it for setting the front of his hair with one quick zap...)
OK, so it IS VERY pricey but I thought, if it is not worth it I would just return it. My wife's Christmas gift,,,, like a diamond ring of sorts for her hair. Even she at first said NO WAY but after trying it,,,, ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT !!!
i ordered this because i have thick, wavy hair. On average it took 45 mins for me to dry my hair. It would be frizzy and "puffy" no matter what kind of product i used.
it was great.
i left my hair in a towel for 15 mins
i put on low heat and lowest setting ( power)w no attachments for 3 mins
used smallest width attachment on low heat and lowest setting( power)
4 mins later using my roller brush my hair looked and felt like i just went to the salon.its light, powerful and quiet.
I've always struggled with having fine curly to wavy hair so round brushing was something I knew I should be doing, but couldn't seem to get the hang of. Using a straightener and/or curling iron every day was leaving my hair in a brittle state. Literally breaking off.
Any time I would invest in a nice blow dryer, I would be left feeling helpless, as trying to master any round brush technique was cumbersome at best.
This year I got my Supersonic as a birthday present to myself. Best. Gift. Ever. Not only does my hair dry quickly, but it looks smooth and shiny.Trying round brushing techniques that previously sent me running in the other direction doesn't even cause me to bat an eye now.
I've always been a low maintenance girl, but my supersonic let me either dry my hair and go looking good or put in medium effort and get a 'wow.'
The curling iron and straightener have been retired. My fine hair is getting healthy and I'm elated.
