I have had it three weeks I believe.. it needs to be ionic.. the ions just soften, smooth, remove water more efficiently. More than the low heat and fan speed can.. The hair doesn’t feel as soft as other professional dryers I have had.. I do use this for work.. but it is quieter..

Hello Sammy, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that thus far in your use, you've found that your hair doesn't seem to feel as soft when using the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer. There are a few different things you can do to change the method in which you dry your hair. To begin with the unit is designed with a type of thermal control which means it will monitor and control the temperature at all times. When the dryer is held away from your head the dryer reads the temperature of the room and not your hair; this also causes your hair to blow all around which can lead to damage and tangles. In light of this, it may be necessary to use the dryer directly against your hair with a low speed/heat setting (to start with) using either your hand, a paddle brush or roll brush to control the movement of your hair. When applying these tips to your everyday styling you should start to see a difference in the texture of your hair. Quiet, light, made just right!!

My dryer is Purple and Black, and I love it! It's very lightweight, has nice airflow volume /sound, and dries quickly and evenly. I love the diffuser; my hair looks shiny and my curls don't come out looking dry, bushy and frizzy like it has with my previous dryers. I also like that the styling attachments are held in place magnetically so you have the certainty of knowing that your attachment won't pop off as you are in the middle of drying. The non-slip mat is nice too, because it prevents your dryer from sliding off from the counter accidentally which could damage your dryer, etc. The filter is very easy to clean too. For now 4 stars, as I may re-review later after I've used it for a year or so!

I got this last week to dry my wavy/curly hair which has become long, messy, and difficult because I can't go to my hair salon. The diffuser worked marvels, is easy and quick to use, looks better than air drying and will be much more practical in cooler weather. A wonder of design and functionality. My only complaint is that it will not work for international travel, when it is possible to travel again. Will Dyson design a travel hair dryer?
