[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a gift from my daughter. I had used her Dyson and was "blown away" by how good my hair looked. I just had to have it. I am so happy with the results every time!
Received as a gift for my birthday, it has not lived up to my expectation. My hair has become very dry and lifeless. Not sure why, used my old dryer the last few days and my hair looks much better. I have a dyson vacuum and really love it, this dryer just did not work for me.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi Sasha, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that thus far in your use, the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer hasn't met or exceeded your expectations. The technology behind Dyson Supersonic is quite revolutionary and it is not like anything you might be used to. It can take some time to get used to the different settings, features and attachments Dyson supersonic provides during your drying session, not to mention your normal way or habit of drying your hair with traditional hair dryers.
While everyone is different, we certainly wouldn't expect hair to become fried, dry or frizzy as a result of using Dyson Supersonic. The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer will feature intelligent heat control, which means it will monitor and control the temperature at all times. This helps prevent extreme heat damage and protects hair's natural shine. It also will feature negative ions to help prevent hair from becoming frizzy. One quick tip I would recommend, as outlined in our Dyson Supersonic support videos, will be using the dryer directly against your hair with a low speed/heat setting (to start with) using either your hand, a paddle brush or roll brush to control the movement of your hair. When the dryer is held away from your head the dryer reads the temperature of the room and not your hair, this also causes your hair to blow all around which can lead to damage and tangles. Please also note that each heat and airflow setting is designed to provide varying outcomes depending on the style you have in mind for any particular drying session.
We'd value the opportunity to learn more about your experience with your Dyson as we'd like to help ensure you are having a 5-star experience. Please feel free to reach out to us at askdysonUS@dyson.com, and we will be in touch.
I’ve had my eye on this dryer for a very long time and decided to give it a go. I had a very good professional dryer prior to my Dyson that I loved but then this piece of technology came along and I was blown away! The dry time is exceptional. The balance and weight (one of the reasons I had hesitated) is perfect and I’m not experiencing any fatigue while using! And the shine! Oh the shine and health of the hair is beyond anything I’ve seen before! I work with an organic product line so it makes sense to continue hair integrity through the blow drying process. From the moment I called customer service with questions and to order (both exceptional by the way) to the fast, free shipping, to the unboxing and use, everything has been at another level with this product. Even my clients have asked why their hair feels better than ever! Worth every penny!
I originally bought the standard model with diffuser attachment for my 2c wavy (some curls) hair. I was so excited as I saved up the money for this investment hoping this innovated company had found a way to dry hair quickly and with minimal heat. My hair takes about 6 hours to air dry. I had to return my first one because it was burning my scalp on the lowest heat setting. Dyson used my warranty and in exchange sent me the professional model. Again, lowest heat setting is almost intolerable. I don’t understand why it has to be so hot. Otherwise the only other option is no heat and that takes very long. At the price this dryer costs it should have a distinct difference between heat settings and the lowest should be very low, just above the cool air setting. And increase from there to hotter settings. Right now the choices are no heat, flaming hot, Mojave dessert, and the sun! Aside from that I love the dryer. It does dry my hair fast, it’s lightweight which is good for people with chronic illness, and my hair has minimal frizz and looks nice when done. But it have a burning scalp after. Especially with the diffuser, which is also too hot to touch after. I’ve never had a diffuser too hot to touch. I’m not cooking my hair, so the temp shouldn’t be equivalent to a stove!
