Flawed design

The handle is designed in a way that I’m constantly either accidentally pressing the “cold shot “ button, or blocking the air vent.
There isn’t enough room to hold it comfortably.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Rani, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for sharing your review of the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer. We're sorry to learn that you've found the supersonic awkward or uncomfortable to hold. The Supersonic dryer was engineered to feel balanced in the hand. It is also the only manufactured hair dryer with the motor in the handle, helping to shift the center of gravity, to help it feel more comfortable to hold. You will want to ensure that your hand is not covering the air vent at the bottom of the handle, as this can cause you dryer to overheat and shut off during use. This is a built-in thermal protection, to prevent any damage to the motor whilst in use.

When designing technology, we are conscious to make sure that our products interact most efficiently for and with our customers. It’s quiet

I had wanted this dryer for a year. Just received this for my birthday. I love that this is quiet. Dries hair quickly with different heat and power settings. I have salt and pepper hair and this dries my hair without the frizz. It is lightweight but I do have a habit of gripping the handle over the air filter. I have to learn to grip higher on the handle. Other than that Seems like a well made machine.

Absolutely Amazing - A little forceful

The design is beautiful. The colors are great. The attachments clicking on by magnets is fabulous. The heat regulation must be healthier for your hair. The motor and overall product creation are next level. My only critique is that the hairdryer blows with incredible force. I have super fine hair, and I can only use the hairdryer, with an attachment, on the absolute lowest speed or my hair becomes tangled in a series of knots… any feedback on how to avoid this would be wonderful. :)

This is a magical item that has changed my life!

This is seriously a life changing product! I have very curly, long hair and for 50 years have walked around all winter with wet hair that takes several hours to dry, wetting the back of my clothing and making me so cold! I have tried many other hair dryers and diffusers but they leave my hair frizzy and full of flyaways. Plus, these other products would take too long to dry my hair. The Dyson dryer is quick, efficient, and feels like it was designed with my hair in mind. My hair looks professionally done. After drying, my curls stay coiled together with more integrity. I have never encountered a diffuser attachment that worked so well. I also appreciate that the edges of the diffuser stay cool so it's comfortable to remove it and put the whole thing away when I'm finished - someone clearly thought about this entire product. Thank you, thank you! I never thought a hair dryer could bring me such joy! Oh, and my hair looks fantastic, too!

The best hair dryer ever. My daughter is a hair stylist so she always gets me professionalisms grad hair dryers. This is the best one ever. I had to get use to less heat but my hair is in great shape because of it.

I have wanted this dryer for years! I got it for Christmas this year. The heat adjustments are perfect for natural silver hair. No more damage from high heat!

If you only buy 1 attachment: make it the flyaway

The first time I dried my hair with this dryer, I was instantly mad that I hadn't bought one... 3 years ago, after my stylist used one on me and I swore I'd buy one that night. I have a lot of fine, 2a (inconsistent) elbow-length hair that tends to be a little on the dry side with some frizz. I try to minimize exposure to heat styling, so the variable heat controls on the Supersonic appealed to me.
My hair takes a while to dry and always needs to have some additional product and styling either with a hot brush or a straightener to look even halfway decent. Imagine my surprise when I dried my hair using the smoothing nozzle on the bottom sections, the wide tooth comb attachment on the crown for volume, and finished with the flyaway attachment and it looked like I'd paid someone else to fully do my hair, straightening and all. In my excitement, I'd even forgotten to use product - no problem. It's really an amazing tool; it dried my hair in half the time that my old, HEAVY, salon-quality hairdryer workhorse did, with results easily twice as good.
I am so happy and impressed with this item. I like that it is compact and light, because I don't want to leave home without it. In particular, I can't recommend the flyaway attachment enough. What a bizarre-looking thing. It's an engineering marvel, kind of magical. I use it throughout the week, in between washings to refresh and smooth my hair. This hair dryer is certainly worth the price, barring any mechanical failure, as I feel it will save me both money in repairing damaged hair, as well as time spent drying my hair. I'll be buying one for my mother ASAP.
