Leisure travelers: consider if compartments are needed
on December 1, 2022
Posted by: Debbie S.
The bag is good looking, seems sturdy, well-made and durable. It is relatively light and rolls well. If you are not a business traveler, the suit section is unnecessary, takes up a lot of space and adds to the expense if you are going to remove it. Some of the extra compartments also take up space rather than add utility. A video or accompanying set of photos would be helpful to suggest uses for all the extra bells and whistles

A Carry-On Good Enough For Travel
on December 5, 2022

For the biggest carry-on that you can get, it serves well. Wheels are quiet and seem to do well for it’s first trip. The construction of the bag itself is of durable quality with amicable space. The zippers are of quality and so is the material. The only thing that I don’t like about the bag is that you have the storage area for the handle that protrudes where your clothes go so your clothes don’t lay flat. Not only that, but when you’re trying to pack for four days, that real estate is very valuable. So, I improvised and used the flat areas and filled them with socks and underwear. When the bag is full like it is now, the zippers inside at the top where the buckles are are not useful and serve no purpose. On the interior side of the opening flap, the insert that is in there that can be taken out really serves no purpose either. It’s a thick card stock board covered with a foam roll that I have no idea what purpose it serves. It can be removed and I did just that.

I am thrilled with my purchase of the Platinum Elite 22 Travel Pro. It has lots of room and a number of ways to pack my gear.

Too much built in
on December 6, 2022

I bought this bag to replace a TravelPro Walkabout 2 that I have had for probably 15 years. It was a work horse and served me well all over the world, so I am a fan of TravelPro products and their durability. The thing that set my old bag apart, aside from durability, was the packing volume. Almost no one makes a 22" bag, and this one also maximized the packing volume, allowing me to use it for up to a week (for summer trips). The Platinum Elite 22" comes close measurement-wise, but loses space with the placement of the zipper (along the front instead of around the whole bag), the larger handle mechanism and the inclusion of built in compartments. In the old bag, the suiter was completely removeable for trips where it was not necessary. This one is only partially removable. The old one had simple straps to cinch items in the main compartment, allowing you to use them for some or all of the items. This one has flaps that are far less flexible in use. This makes it harder for those of us who use packing cubes. Its outside pockets are also less expandable. I am sure many like the forced organization that these features encourage, but I would encourage Travelpro to consider adding to its product line a rollaboard that allows more individualism in packing. One more note. The USB port is a standard USB, whereas most phones and other items have now switched to USB C, so using it would require carrying cords or adapters that people would not otherwise need, and would also yield a slower charging time. It does not appear that it can be swapped out. All of that said, I still believe the bag meets more of my needs than any other I have found, and expect it will be durable and serve me well as did its predecessor.

Plastic is not stylish
on December 10, 2022

Pros- - Sturdy Handles (handle on the bottom) - Size fits in aircraft overhead bins - Good wheels - Robust zippers
Cons- - So much Plastic (feels like a kids toy) - Expensive plastic -When placed on a hotel luggage rack the suiter is awkward to inaccessible

Lightweight and attractive, The wheels roll smooth and quiet! Solid construction. It does not hold as much as my other bag, but overall I really like it.

The suitcase is well built
on December 19, 2022

The suitcase is well built but some changes from my TravelPro version 9 i dont like. Why are the front pockets so small now? you can put anything in them. why does the built in net for dirty clothes zip open to the bottom now instead of the top-makes clothes fall out when you close the top of the suitcase...and it just doesnt seem as big as my previous one....disappointing overall for the price paid

Great carry on.

Much more space than my previous carry on bag. Also so nice that the bag doesn’t tip over with a backpack on top of it.
