[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this appliance for free in exchange for the thorough review below, but I was not compensated for any particular opinion, and my opinions and methods are mine alone.
There are very few things that are either perfect or useless kitchen purchases, but there are use cases that make a product better or worse for someone. In summary, this is a perfect product for someone that cooks for themselves, or is looking to do meal prep, or is living in a kitchen-limited situation. I would have loved this in my dorm room (sorry, administrators who have this banned. I had a toaster oven in college. Life’s tough and this isi safer than a toaster oven)
So let’s talk about me: I am a very comfortable and reasonably skilled cook. I cook dinner for my family 6 nights out of 7 a week, on average, for a family of 5, with a large dinner Friday night that is ten people on average.
I tried out every single setting on the Foodi to see how it came out.
I don’t own a rice cooker--I don’t generally find it that hard to make rice on the stove--but I regret to tell myself most of all that the brown rice setting in incredible and I would absolutely use it again for that purpose. The rice setting cooks the rice perfectly competently, but for my specific use case, I don’t know that I would use it.
The pasta setting I found silly for me, but I could see someone who wanted to one pot that meal by throwing cooked meat and sauce into it afer the pasta cooked absolutely adoring the setting.
I tried out the braise setting by making a gochujang braised chicken with rice, and I think it did a fairly decent job braising! That’s not something I’ve seen on these cookers, and I think I’ll get to make good use of it in the future, especially on high-volume days like thanksgiving.
Oats was another setting that surprised me with its usefulness. I love steel cut oats but unfortunately that often involves making steel cut oats, and the ability to walk away and basically be called back when its done was a fantastic boon. I will absolutely use that again for race mornings or other times where I need something substantial but lack the time. THey taste so much better than overnight oats.
The sear and slow cook settings work absolutely fine. I think prefer a regular slow cooker for my general applications, but if I didn’t already have one this would be a great all in one. It sears about like those old electric frying pans: Nothing to write home about, but also very little to complain about. There was not much of a hot spot problem, which impressed me.
Pros: THE CLEANING MY GOD THE CLEANING. I did everything I could to make this thing miserable to clean. I let pasta sauce sit. I let oats dry out. I braised in gochujang for hours. I tried to emotionally destroy myself through difficult to clean foods, and it laughed at my attempts. I barely needed to wipe half the time. The food just glided off. I would buy it for this alone. Perfect to take to a cabin or airbnb.
Space saving: Because it does so many things one could theoretically get rid of multiple appliances that do the same things. I don’t have the kind of space limitations that would make me get rid of my slow cooker, and I don’t own a rice cooker anyhow, but I can see the utility of this if I had limited space.
Cons:
As someone with a bigger family it’s a bit small, but I think for a single or couple, it would be fantastic, and maybe even for a family that didn’t rely so much on making enough for leftovers. Like I said in the beginning, specific use cases.
Timing: This is coming from someone who doesn’t use rice cookers and the like, but I did not love not knowing when my rice was going to be finished while I was trying to do dinner. It DOES have a warming setting, so I could have gotten more comfortable using that, but the kind of cook I am prefers to time well in the kitchen so everything ‘hits’ at the same time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is so much more lightweight than my slow cooker or instant pot. It was really easy to use it to cook homemade soup where I was able to sauté the veggies first and then cook the soup on the slow cooker setting for a few hours. It cleans up easily and doesn’t take up much space on the counter. I’m excited to try some new recipes!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The only thing I would fix so far when it comes to this particular product is when you look at the recipe book it gives you guidelines on how to cook every type of rice in it ……… except yellow rice. I had to search online just to make sure that I cook the rice to where it’s edible, because The only two things that I cannot cook is rice without a rice cooker and gravy from scratch. . Other than that It’s a great for multiple types of cooking, this is such a nice little gadget! You can use it as a frying pan, a slow or rice cooker!! It has multiple settings for many uses! It has a removable pot that can also be used as a cooking pan. I love that its so easy to use and to clean also

Awesomeness

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this product. Its not too heavy. It was easy to use. I really like the preset buttons so you dont have to guess how much time to add to certain foods. The rice was dome in less the 20 minutes. The rice was a bit undercooked but maybe I should've add a bit more water. It did't stick to the pot. I really like that the pot is removable making it easy it to clean. My minor complaint it doesnt show the time when its set to function. I cant wait to try other foods.
