We purchased this device to help cool a large family room in conjunction with overhead fans. We were able to cool this room on the warmest summer days and are well pleased with this purchase.
The only thing I dislike about it, living in old brick house, I truly collects a lot of dust in the vent, it should have come with a brush to keep the small holes clean, even with a swiper duster, it only remove small amount of the build up in the holes.
This was the second fan I bought, since I loved the first one. I have the upstairs section of my cape cod style home and although there is central air, it just doesn't work well. The fans have made it possible to avoid having to add a small window air conditioner in my bedroom. It is quiet and easy to clean, unlike the pedestal fan I had that got filthy and was so hard to take apart to clean. I highly recommend it.
Have always been a Dyson fan because of the quality - have 2 of their vacuum cleaners and two tower fans.
I live in Pam Springs, CA, so keeping the inside of the house cool during an 8-9 month period of time each year is paramount. The first of my 2 years here I used the central air conditioning and/or the swamp cooler to keep the house comfortable. The second summer I only used the central air conditioning and the Dyson tower fans and I actually saved about $100 each of the 3 hottest summer months which I attribute to the Dyson towers. I used the central air conditioning more the second summer and the Dyson towers were the only additional change I made - never turned on the swamp cooler- so the Dyson towers moved the cool air very well and cost efficiently and aided in keeping the house cooler. The tower makes no noise but you do hear the rush of air the tower is producing at its higher settings. I'd definitely recommend the product !
Fan is pretty, looks really nice in a room. BUT, if you put it above a 3 it's VERY NOISY .... ALSO, the remote if really small, it's hard to feel the buttons to adjust fan. ALSO, the remote must be pointed towards the bottom of the fan for it to work. so if you're in bed and want to adjust the fan, you have to GET UP, and point the remote at the bottom of the fan for it to work. Most fans have this feature at the top of the fan, this way you can just point and adjust or turn off or on. You can't just point from anywhere in the room and expect it to work, you have to be RIGHT ON TOP of the fan and it has to be pointed down at the bottom for the remote to work. Bad design. Oh, did I say it's pretty? Lot of money for this big problem in my opinion!
