Filter leaks
on May 27, 2026
Posted by: lptr
Water filter began leaking inside the fridge shortly after installing it. Now the leaking is getting worse, so I need to just turn off the water to my fridge entirely. This is a terrible product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi lptr,

Seeing water collect inside your refrigerator right after installing the filter is not the experience you expect, and we understand how concerning that can be.

A leak like this is often related to how the filter is seated or fitted. For the best fit and safe installation, working with a professional installer can help ensure everything is set up correctly. You may check the link below for more information:

Dear MRS AGB,

We went over your review of your Samsung water filter, focusing on what you mentioned about the water flavor.

A new water filter may temporarily affect taste if it hasn’t been fully flushed. Running a few gallons of water through it can help clear any trapped air or loose particles.

How NOT TO have it LEAK: part 2
on December 26, 2023
Posted by: Eddd
After reading the long "How NOT TO have it LEAK" review I grew a pair and went for it. The original came out easily. The new one leaked even though I gently pushed it in while turning it to lock.
Then.... I shut off the water line to my refrigerator with the small ball valve behind the refrigerator, installed the filter the same way but without any resistance and turned the water back on. No leaks.
I would recommend this to a friend!

How NOT TO have it LEAK:
on March 22, 2023
Posted by: Apple137
I read the reviews and many wrote that they replaced it and it leaked. I thought maybe they got the wrong size so I pulled the current filter out that came with the fridge. I took a pic of the filter then replaced it and heard a hiss or water sound which I used to hear when replacing my older fridge filter. I inserted the filter with the knob facing the unlock, pushed it in and then turned it to the lock position.
THIS WAS THE WRONG WAY TO INSTALL IT, because it leaked just like everyone said. Thankfully I didn't install it and leave the house.
What worked was to push the filter in gently, making sure it reaches the back where it will connect. Turn it clockwise, while gently pushing it in like you're screwing a cap on. It will turn until it locks on its own. There was no hissing or water sound this time. This instruction should've been on the filter door.
Now if the water already leaked before you read this, do the following first:
Remove both drawers and remove all water under the drawers with a cloth towel first.
Inside where the filter goes in there's a small plastic plate that comes out, almost the same length as the filter. Remove that and get the water that spilled under if you can, if not, you can try getting it from the side and back of the middle part where the filter goes. After drying everything, I used a dry paper towel to make sure there's no wet areas that I missed and repeated until paper came back dry. It was just easier for me to see it in paper.
You're going to set off your fridge alarm while doing this, keep going until you're done. The faster you dry it the faster you'll be able to close it. If you touch the middle area and the paper towel is absorbing water, that means there's still water in the middle. Keep absorbing the liquid.
When you're done, insert the filter in as mentioned above then place half a paper towel on each side where the drawer normally goes. I closed the fridge and came back a couple minutes later to check if the towels got wet and they didn't.
Return the drawers and hopefully next time you replace it, it won't leak. 🤞

HAF-QIN/EXP Replacement Walter Filters
on June 8, 2021

from Concord, CA
i have installed two genuine samsung replacement water filters in the last two weeks and have experienced water leakage both times. fortunately, i discovered the first water leak of several gallons before it could do damage.
once the filter is inserted and locked into place, i hear a continuous hissing sound and then water sprays down inside of the refrigerator through the middle drawer and into the freezer and down to the pan on the bottom of the unit. when i reinstall the old filter, the hissing and water leakage does not occur.
up until now, i have never experienced this problem and i have owned and maintained this refrigerator, model number rf23m8070sr/aa for over two years. i am extremely disappointed in a possible water damage problem with no apparent solution.

Bad Fit

I’ve replaced the filter twice. The first time it was hard to fit, and the second one just didn’t work. Something is not right with these filters. Replacing them shouldn’t be this hard.

Works as advertised, just take your time.

Bought a 3 pack and installed it 1 week ago.
I`ve read lots of the reviews here and was curious why the ratings were not higher. The main issue most reviews had were about hissing noise and leaking.
One reviewer though gave me hope as to how to properly install the filter without any issues.
I purchased and installed and WHAMMO, LEAKS!!!!
However just to be clear , i was in a rush , forgot what the one reviewer said and did a lazy ,rushed job.
Heres the take away.
Turn off the water to the refrigerator before installing the new filter.
If you install the filter without doing so, then most likely your guaranteed to flood the kitchen in 15-30 minutes .
The filter will not make a secure seal if you try installing with the water pressure still up.
If you first shut off water and the then release any execess water from the fridge, it should be smooth sailing .
Great product but alot of unfair reveiws.
Maybe a better user guide would have helped .
God bless and i hope this helps others.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very disappointed in the replacement filter.

I recently purchased a water filter, installed it about one month ago, and ALREADY need a new one. I am terribly disappointed. I bought the refrigerator over a year ago and the original water filter worked great…now it tastes terrible and the “change filter” light is on. Ridiculousness.
