One season wonder!

I've owned two of these. The first one lasted five years but the speed control started to go out after two years. Luckly it still operated on high speed so I lived with it. Eventually it bit the dust. Replaced it last year with same model only to have this one just quit after one season. Its not like I use this everyday, blow the driveway occasionally and leaves in the fall. I won't be rewarding Toro with another purchase.

We're sorry to hear this. Please make sure your machine is getting enough power with a 100-ft. 12 or 14 gauge power cord so that your machine's motor is not overworking with a less powerful cord. Let our customer care team know if you would like further assistance. We're here to help!

Short causing burtnout/fire in plug connection

I've now had THREE blowers and ALL shorted and burned the extension cord plug and destroying it. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I plan to find another brand that doesn't burn and ruin my "Rigid" brand extension cords (heavy duty)

This unit has all the power needed to keep up with the fall leaves on my heavily treed property. I especially appreciate the built in cord lock.

We appreciate your feedback. We recommend vacuuming only dry leaves and soft items. Hard items such as sticks, rocks, acorns and pine cones will damage the impeller. Do not force the vacuum tube into a pile of debris or hold the tube upright while force feeding debris into the tube. Either action may clog and damage the impeller. If your vacuum starts to vibrate or make abnormal noise, stop it, unplug the cord, and check for cause. You can view this information in your operator's manual and also warranty information at Toro.com/parts.

Bought this because we were working with a large amount of leaves and wanted them shredded to use as compost on a garden. We would vacuum and shred. Emptying the bag was pretty easy. Just unzip the bag and shake. Everything worked well at first. The impeller shredded the leaves into fine pieces. After about 10 bags of leaves, we noticed that it wasn't shredding as well. The more we did, the worse it got, until the leaves were no longer being shredded at all. Checked everything starting with the impeller, which was fine. We finally figured out that the inlet in the top of the bag had been damaged. It appears that the bag is designed in such a way as to hold the leaves in the impeller area for a period of time to grind them up. Once that part of the bag is damaged, the leaves will just blow into the bag without shredding. If the bag is going to tear that easily, and if that tear affects the shredding ability, this unit is no good for us.
This is a great blower and vac but it is a bit heavy and cumbersome when you are using the vac. Really like the variable speeds.
Pros: adjustable speed
Cons: heavy

A real review. 20 years of use
on March 14, 2020

Most reviews are people who have maybe a year of use max. I’ve had this product for a little over 20 years. I use it all of the time to clear my external stairway but I also use it to clean my patio and yard every year. This is quite simply, a work horse that will not quit. After all of these years, the bag is the only thing that is showing wear. The metal impeller still crushes leaves, sticks and anything else that gets in the way. The blower/vacuum engine has not slowed even a little bit. I’ve used it to clear drains, yes it does water, and it just keeps going. So, if you are trying to pick a blower/vac that will do the work and lasts forever, this is it. Still trying to figure out how Toro makes money on a product that lasts forever.
